    Album Notes
Dokken: Don Dokken (vocals); Jeff Pilson (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, Mellotron, keyboards, bass); Mick Brown (vocals, drums, perussion); Reb Beach (guitar).Principally recorded at 710 Studios, Redondo, California.Even though pop-metal heroes Dokken reunited in the 1990s, old habits refused to die for singer Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch, who still could not see eye to eye. Wishing to pursue a heavier musical direction, and feeling restricted by his old bandmates, Lynch once again left Dokken shortly after 1997's SHADOW LIFE. Instead of going on hiatus again as they once did in the late '80s, Dokken decided to soldier on, with ex-Winger guitarist Reb Beach taking Lynch's vacated spot. On the first Dokken album with Beach, 2000's ERASE THE SLATE, the music remains more straight-ahead than on Dokken's glossy '80s releases, but incorporates more melody into the mix than their later '90s efforts--check out the title track and "The Maddest Hatter" for the proof.

Dokken's Erase the Slate--2 thumbs way up!!

    Created: 11/07/06
First of all, this is my 3rd copy of ETS. So that gives a very good idea that I love the CD. This CD is in my top 3 Dokken CD's and can stand with any recorded material the band produced in the '80's. It is classic Dokken with slight differences. The tight harmonies and fantastic songwriting is there, with an apparent maturity. This is evident in the song "Change the World". One of the main difference is in the personal changes. If you are die-hard fan, you already are aware of this. If you are not, you must be aware George Lynch is not on this CD. On lead guitar is Reb Beach from the band "Winger",another '80's band, so the if you are looking for hook-laden guitar work, it's there. He does a fantastic job in that role. Also on board for this production, are Jeff Pilson, Mick Brown, and the man himself, Don Dokken.
As I said earlier, there are slight, more mature, difference from anything the band produced in the '80's, but you will not be able to tell the differences. This is a solid CD produced by one of the most underrated bands that came out of the Hollywood glam-metal era.

    Still Rockin with Dokken

    Created: 03/06/08
Its been 20 years since Dokken broke up (the 1st time ) in 1988 after "Back for the Attack" & tour. In that time they've released 7 cd's, Only 2 are worth buying, and of these 2 this one is the best. George Lynch is not playing (big disappointment) but Reb Beach of winger doesn't make you miss george. This is from 1999. The other good cd is their latest "Lightning Strikes Again".
