Essential Ernest DVD Collection (DVD, 2006, 4-Disc Set)

Jim Varney was a comic genius and it's great to see a 2 disc DVD set that's all about his most beloved character, Ernest.
The commercials are hillarious and are always fun to watch.
"Ernest Goes To Africa" is actually one of the funniest of the Ernest movies and if you haven't seen it yet, you need to see it.
It was also great to finally see the Ernest "Family Album" where Varney plays a bunch of wacky characters in Ernest's family.
You can't lose with this DVD set if you're in the mood for some well needed goofball laughs.

If you are a fan of Ernest, as I am, then this collection will certainly entertain you. There are 2 feature films in the set that were straight to video releases and some specials included but those are not what make this collection worth owning. The highlights of this set are the "Earnest's Greatest Hits", vol. 1 & 2. These are the early 1980's commercials that were out there long before any of his starring movies came about. There are tons of 30 second commercials, including a little behind the scenes stuff and some absolutely hysterical bloopers mix in the bunch. These, you can watch over and over again when you need a good laugh or just to pick your spirits up when your feeling blue. Throughout the set, the video quality is excellent as well as the audio. The packaging is a little cheap looking but the content on the discs are professionally done with menus and scene selections. I really think you'll like it. "No what I mean?"

If you are a Jim Varney fan this 3-disc set is a must have for your collection!! Ernest P. Worrell's Greatest Hits I & II (his TV commericals) are my favorites....HILARIOUS!!!!! Also, excellently priced!!

I've been a fan of Ernest since I was a kid, and I'm now 23. If you like Ernest, or Jim Varney in general, this is a great DVD to own. It has plenty of laughs for you and your family. My only gripe with the Essential Ernest is that they could of included more actual films, instead of features like the Greatest Hits 1 and 2. It would have been nice to have more movies like Ernest Scared Stupid, or Ernest Goes to Camp. But all in all, it is a great buy, and I am more than satisfied.

Fantastic DVD set - All of Ernest's best stuff is here - full feature movies to commercial spoofs from the 80's, Vern! Recommended highly for all Ernest fans - glad I bought it.
