Album Notes
Eiffel 65: Gianfranco Randone (vocals); Maurizio Lobina (keyboards); Gabry Ponte (DJ)."Blue (Da Ba Dee)" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. The title of this debut says a lot, but not all, about the Italian dancy pop trio Eiffel 65. These boys have obviously listened to a lot of Yaz, early Depeche, and New Order. Lead singer Jeffrey Jey's voice, when it's not being run through a vocoder Roger Troutman-style, owes a lot to Simon LeBon. Moreover, the music is given the ultra-produced, pulsating beats-and-bleats treatment of all those faceless European dance outfits of the '90s. There's even a touch of that post-romantic soul a la Spandau Ballet or the Blow Monkeys. Eiffel 65 took over the Eurodance scene with the infectious single "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," an eminently likable tune around which this album is crafted.Eiffel 65 proves that it is capable of at least one more wicked hook with the sugary "Too Much of Heaven." The album's true find is the orchestral "Living in a Bubble," which balances the sing-song rap styles of oh, say 1992, with a captivating musical loop reminiscent of P.M. Dawn meets the Soup Dragons. EUROPOP is more than just that, an appealing debut by a group that joins artists such as Les Ryhthmes Digitales and Alex Gopher in mining the '80s for dance nuggets.

Editorial Reviews
3 stars out of 5 - ...Far more New Wave-influenced than their diva-helmed Eurodance peers [they] flaunt contemporary electronica gurgles while bringing back 80s-style melodic melodrama....EUROPOP is the sound of the rest of the world.

Eiffel 65 on the side

This band diffenitly interests me in the smallest but best way. Sadly they only came out with a couple albums and they only have one big radio hit called Blue. I owned this specific CD once before and it was like alot of my CDs...Stolen. I actually forgot about Blue for years upon years and I knew that something was missing from my collection and it is that crazy techno music they made. Its a very catchy album with a great upbeat sound, once you start listening to it you get it stuck in your head forever wether you know it or not. If you need anything out of the ordinary in your collection this would be the best thing to add to it.

Splendid Cd - Eiffel 65

Created: 07/02/07
I love the cd. Eiffel 65 creates a moving beat that lures you out of your chair and onto the dance floor...or your living room floor. With songs like "My Console" and "Blue" you can't go wrong. The cd is filled with other great songs as well that never fail to move me...such as "Move your body." I had heard "Blue" over the radio and from friends and had thought it great. I found it on Ebay for under 5 bucks, that was such a deal I just had to buy it. Overall I would reccomend it for anyone that likes a good beat.

Europop

This is a CD that I listened to in my younger days. However most of the songs did not get any airplay except for Blue. But anyway anyone who is into this genre of music will not be able to put it down. This album isn't for everyone.

Great European Dance "Pop" Album!

Created: 02/03/09
This album inspired my electronica taste in music as a young teenager. It's definitaly one of those pop (aquired taste) albums, but it's great. The lyrics make perfect sense, and the music will make you want to dance!
