Robin Thicke's 2003 effort, A BEAUTIFUL WORLD, proved the artist was quite adept at spinning a lush pop-R&B hybrid in the blue-eyed soul mode. 2006's THE EVOLUTION OF ROBIN THICKE steps up the achievements of its predecessor, showcasing tighter songwriting and Thicke's versatile vocals (featuring plenty of the artist's lovely falsetto). There are hard-grooving tunes here, and downtempo tracks as well. Thicke works a nice contemporary R&B vibe by judiciously mixing choice old-school elements (Marvin Gaye is a clear touchstone) with electronic flourishes and hip-hop inflections, so that several tracks on THE EVOLUTION sound ready-made for radio play. Robin Thicke's sophomore release should be of interest to fans of the new breed of post-millennium R&B stars like Ne-Yo and Jaheim.

Robin Thicke can set the mood in this album

    Created: 10/08/08
I came across his album and sample all of his songs through this site and I loved what I heard and decided to purchase it. After receiving it and hearing it numerously I say that this album is positively outstanding. Every track is incredible. Thicke's vocals are soulful, silky-smooth, rich and beautiful. The ballads (along with Thicke's vocals) are filled with so much emotion and tenderness. The up-tempo songs make you want to move or simply chill to.

He emerges with "The Evolution of Robin Thicke," and gives soul fans something we can revel in. The disc opens with a duet between Robin and 'The First Lady' of R&B Faith Evans. "Got 2 Be Down" finds both artist in tune with each other and proves to be the highlight of the collaborations on the album. The disc presses on through the marvelous "Complicated," In this track the first minute is great and the lyrics are fantastic accompanying piano playing drive this tune. "Would That Make You Love Me?", "Lost Without You" and "Ask Myself" delivers soulful melodies each of these tracks are very smooth and beautiful I can't get enough of them. His collaboration with Lil Wayne on "all Night Long" can be addictive with it's beat the and rhymes. This track threw me off guard in the beginning not because it's high tempo but it swerve me from vibe that I've been getting into. Robin quickly shift back gears by giving us the Latin tinged "Everything I Can't Have". He thought so far outside of the box on this track, and it worked so well! "Teach U A Lesson," is a sexy number and the lyrics are great and naughty at the same time. I'm honestly in love with "I need Love" because Robin put together some great lyrics and the vocal melody in here is just as superior. "Wanna Love U girl" with Pharrell was the first song that I heard from him on the radio almost a year ago and I thought is was pretty average and that hinder me from picking up this album from the beginning. "Can U believe," is ole school and the piano line is simply amazing which makes it another favorite.

I can go on with the rest of the tracks in this album but you need to hear it for yourself and the rest of the songs trudges on in similar fine style. I have become a big fan of him and his music. I recommend this album to anyone who's looking for music that will move them and touch their hearts in intimate ways.

Evolution? Not to fans of his first CD

    Created: 08/01/07
If you were a big fan of Robin Thicke's first CD, A Beautiful World, then you may very well be dissapointed by this effort. While A Beautiful World was fresh, edgy and full of gritty soul, Evolution is boring, over-produced and very ordinary. I guess when Robin cut off his hair he decided to go for the mainstream r&b crooner sound as well, which is very unfortunate because he has lost the sound that garnered him many fans.

    Excellent CD!

    Created: 04/08/07
This CD is like a trip back to old school R and B. Filled with flavor and a delicious sort of crooning that you rarely hear anymore, Robin Thicke continues to climb out of his shell and is never boring. Mostly all of the songs are really good- Shooter and Lost Without You are not the only reasons you should take a chance and buy this wonderful CD. I look forward to seeing the continued evolution of Robin Thicke.

    The Evolution Of Robin Thicke

    Created: 07/03/07
I bought this CD because Robin Thicke's Lyrics are awesome and so close to home emotionally. He takes the whole R & B genre and intertwine it together making pure excellence. I love that he uses hip hop for the younger masses and jazz for the older set. He has made a CD that all will love and want to buy. The lyrics alone are a poets love song. He has reclaimed what R & B had lost which was the joy of making meaningful music. I love everything about this CD. My favorite song is Sky.
