As the 11 mega-hits compiled here prove, though, the band has a right to be proud. The disc plays like a trip down the main drag of radio-friendly alt rock in the 1990s, with such ubiquitous classics as "Push," "3 a.m.," and "Real World" included. But the real treat is the EP that comes with the package. These six songs represent the first new Matchbox Twenty material in the five years since 2002's MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE was released, and find the band more energized, focused, and compelling than at any point in their career. Produced by super-producer Steve Lilywhite, the EXILE EP is a polished stream of well-constructed modern rock with an adult contemporary slant, matching the highlights on the best-of disc for catchy hooks and melodic songcraft. Taken together, the discs offer a perfect summation of the band's past and present glories.

Matchbox 20's 2007 Comeback EP/Hits 2CD set

Created: 24/01/11
I absolutely am hitting myself for waiting over 3 yrs to purchase this album, but glad I did on here. LOVE IT!! Love the 6 new songs on the first disk, but the added treat to this CD is that it has a second disk with all of their biggest hits from 1996 to 2003. You have "Long Day", "Push", "3AM", "Real World" "Back To Good", "Bent" "If You're Gone", "Mad Season","Disease&quot;,"Unwell", and "Bright Lights" to close the hits 2nd disk, only buy this if you want new music and classic music from MB20. They are back and better then ever. At least they were back 3 yrs ago but hear they are back in 2011 with new music on the way. I rate this CD a 5/5, LOVE IT AND RECOMMEND IT!! Love "How Far We've Come" and "These Hard Times" on Disk 1. Enjoy and buy it if you love Matchbox Twenty.

An Interesting Twist on the Greatest Hits Complilation

Created: 05/10/07
Greatest Hits collections are a mixed blessing: some people love 'em and some people hate 'em. When being introduced to a band for the first time, listeners could do worse than a greatest hits CD. But die-hard fans know that best-of compilations (1) delay further albums and (2) are usually a marketing plot.

Matchbox Twenty takes an interesting twist with their new double album, "Exile on Mainstream." The first disc features seven new tracks from the band while the second comprises their greatest hits. The new stuff, including the single "How Far We've Come," is surprisingly strong material while the hits compilation is a great collection of the band's many singles. My only complaint? The first disc clocks in at under 30 minutes.
