    Industry Reviews
"Passionate summary of the inhuman treatment of the Jewish people in Europe, of the exodus in the 19th- and 20th-centuries to Palestine, and of the triumphant founding of the new Israel."
    New York Times

"All the cliche Jewish characters who have cluttered up our American fiction have been left where they rightfully belong, on the cutting room floor.... 'Exodus' is about fighting people, people who do not apologize either for being born Jewish or the right to live in human dignity."
    Leon Uris

"A rich novel of Israel's birth.... Written at white heat."
    Chicago Tribune

Exodus LEON URIS ISRAEL PALESTINE JUDAICA 1948 ZIONSM

    Created: 01/09/07
Exodus is an international publishing phenomenon--the towering novel of the twentieth century's most dramatic geopolitical event, the founding of the State of Israel. Leon Uris magnificently portrays the birth of a new nation in the midst of enemies--the beginning of an earthshaking struggle for power. Here is the tale that swept the world with its fury: the story of an American nurse, an Israeli freedom fighter caught up in a glorious, heartbreaking, triumphant era. Here is Exodus --one of the great best-selling novels of all time.

    Excellent Re-read!

    Created: 03/06/08
Although first written in 1958, this book is well worth re-reading in light of the continuing Arab - Israeli crisis and battle for the land of Israel. For those who love history in a novel form, this book is at the top of the list. The author skillfully weaves in the background through several generations of each of the main characters and shows the tenacity and resourcefulness of the Jewish people seeking to reclaim what they believe is their God given land, at all cost. I was amazed to learn how they transformed desolate land into a place of fertility, just as prophesied in the Bible. I read this book many years ago, but in a new light today in preparation to go to Israel. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to know more about this land and it's people.

I purchased this book because I read it several years ago and wanted to read it again and keep it for future use. Fascinating. Leon Uris is one of my favorite authors.
