Publisher's Note
Announcing a brand new, cover-to-cover revision of America's pregnancy bible. What to Expect When You're Expecting is a perennial New York Times bestseller and one of USA Today's 25 most influential books of the past 25 years. It's read by more than 90% of pregnant women who read a pregnancy book-the most iconic, must-have book for parents-to-be, with over 14.5 million copies in print.

Now comes the Fourth Edition, a new book for a new generation of expectant moms-featuring a new look, a fresh perspective, and a friendlier-than-ever voice. It's filled with the most up-to-date information reflecting not only what's new in pregnancy, but what's relevant to pregnant women. Heidi Murkoff has rewritten every section of the book, answering dozens of new questions and including loads of new asked-for material, such as a detailed week-by-week fetal development section in each of the monthly chapters, an expanded chapter on pre-conception, and a brand new one on carrying multiples. More comprehensive, reassuring, and empathetic than ever, the Fourth Edition incorporates the most recent developments in obstetrics and addresses the most current lifestyle trends (from tattooing and belly piercing to Botox and aromatherapy). There's more than ever on pregnancy matters practical (including an expanded section on workplace concerns), physical (with more symptoms, more solutions), emotional (more advice on riding the mood roller coaster), nutritional (from low-carb to vegan, from junk food-dependent to caffeine-addicted), and sexual (what's hot and what's not in pregnant lovemaking), as well as much more support for that very important partner in parenting, the dad-to-be.

Overflowing with tips, helpful hints, and humor (a pregnant woman's best friend), this new edition is more accessible and easier to use than ever before. It's everything parents-to-be have come to expect from What to Expect...only better?.

The Calming Guide for a Nervous Mother to Be

Created: 11/03/11
This book was a great help to me when I was going through my first pregnancy, especially. It's scary watching your body go through so many changes, and constantly wondering if the little life inside of you is doing alright. The month by month chapters are a great help as your little one continues to grow inside of your tummy. Instead of calling the doctor all the time, and sounding like a crazy woman with every little change, you can just refer to this book which answers just about any question you could ever have. Even useful in the second and third pregnancy for me, (when you'd think I would be experienced), it always had an answer I could feel better about. It definitely is worth the money because you'll use it over and over again.

I purchased this for myself and found that it had a lot of helpful tips and I learned a lot from this book. It also give me a idea on what to expect in the coming days and doctor visits along with testes I would be going through. I would recommend this book to all expecting mothers or fathers to be.

Excellent resource for new mommies to be

Created: 23/11/10
This book is an excellent book for the gal thinking of pregnancy, the newly pregnant gal, after pregnancy, and everything inbetween! This book should be given automatically to every new-to-be mom. It answers every question that a gal could possibly think of, yet never gives advice and always asks you to call your physician if any concerns. As a nurse, I have worked with this book with my new ob patients for 10 years!

I have read some of the reviews and I can tell this book is often used by fist time mothers. After having had several children and having read many more books, I would never suggest this book to anybody. What I did not like about this book is how pregnancy is described as all the things that we are supposed to feel and what will hurt, and how things are as if one mold fits all. I found Ina May's Guide to childbirth after I read this and found it one thousand times better. Dr. Marsden Wagners Birth plan book is also much better. "Birthing from Within" too is much better. Pregnancy does not have all the ill symptoms described in this book.

I am about to become a great-grandmother! My grandaughter is pregnant for the first time at the age of 23. She is excited and a little anxious about this experience. I had read this book,
"What To Expect When you're Expecting" and loved it.
It takes up all the questions she would ask and also addresses information for the new father. It is well presented, up to date and She loved reading the book for it eased a lot of her anxiety. Great book for all new mothers!
