) This is a great book for introducing an intrepid novice nose into the world of fragrance. I'm not the sort of person who is naturally attracted to a book written by "a Countess", and I am continually shocked by the super white-toothed smile of the author on the cover.
However, I really do think this is a worthy book for anyone wishing to dabble in perfumery. The book takes you on an exploration of the history of fragrance (e.g quotes from Helen Keller) but keeps itself in perfect balance with such practical aims as "how to cross referenc by scent type" and "fragrance wardrobing". Many notable perfumes from A-X are explained. Their recipes aren't given away quite...
My one complaint is that it does not mention a few of my favorite perfumes. Ah well -- It is not a complete perfumiers encyclopedia. But then, it does not make that claim. Instead it gives detailed information on the fragrance choices of famous people. For those who are into that sort of thing, this book is great.
