Operation: Anchorage, A Success
Created: 14/05/09
In Operation: Anchorage!, Fallout 3 is expanded in new ways. Instead of the Lone Hero journying through a barren wasteland, he/she is instead placed into the past, where everything is still new and shiney...
GRAPHICS: 8/10
Out of all the DLCs, the graphics glitches (the ones where you cannot see ANYTHING) are most prevalent in O:A. Aside from that very minor setback, this DLC boasts the same eye-poping scenery, characters, and textures that we saw in the main game. Of course, the Chinese Communists look like walking dummies, but that seems appropriate for an Army training simulator.
CONTROLS: 9/10
Same old, same old. No new controls are introduced in O:A. If you have read any of my other Fallout 3 reviews, you know that I have a problem with the sensitive x-axis. But that's just my opinion. Plus, its easily fixable in the game options menu. Other than that, no real complaints.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
Operation: Anchorage! is stunning in the fact that it throws you into a whole new world; one full of new, full-condition weaponry, military followers, and the amazing T-51b winterized power armor. Unfortunately, most of the new weapons in the game are not usable until you complete the simulation, but upon your successful exit, the riches are yours to behold. I actually like that. Everything about O:A is very well done, in my opinion, and it is a pleasure to play.
OVERALL: 9/10
I'm boosting this score to a 10/10, just because I think the story more than makes up for the minor glitchyness. I would reccommend this DLC to any player who wants to experience a new type of Fallout 3 or who wants to simply expand their arsenal. One gun in particular, the Guass Rifle, can take out a super mutant master in two or three shots... Happy Gaming!!!
