Movie synopsis
This groundbreaking series from the mid-1970s was helmed by Mike Nichols (CLOSER) and Aaron Spelling (CHARLIE'S ANGELS), and was a career-making showcase for such stars as Meredith Baxter and Kristy McNichol, among others. Focusing on an upper-middle-class California family, the show daringly portrayed controversial subject matter such as child abuse, extramarital affairs, and teenage alcohol dependency. The Lawrence family consisted of lawyer and patriarch Doug (James Broderick), housewife and mother Kate (Sada Thompson), and their children Nancy (Baxter), Willie (Gary Frank), and pre-teen Buddy (McNichol). The first two seasons follow the family through trials and tribulations that include Nancy's divorce, Buddy's first job, and a friend of Willie's who comes out of the closet.

) It is lite on Foul Language, Sexual content is at a minimal level, & has a lot of light hearted comedy; Even though the show is considered a "Drama". Kristy Mcnichol as "Buddy" was 14 when this show began, & without question really knows how to act, & really shines throughout most of the episodes. Especially with interactions between her brother "Willie" (Gary Frank) in the show.
The Problem... DVD's are dated 2006... When will the other 2 seasons come out? Its been at least 2 1/2 years since this set came out!!! Scott

) I was excited to see this 70s hit tv show made available on dvd especially since it has not been rerun on tv in over 20 years. The picture and sound quality of each episode is excellent and there isn't a single moment edited out as tv sometimes does. It might have been nice to have some recollections included from the surviving cast members, but this is still a class A dvd set with all the episodes in the same order as when the show first aired.

One of the best series of the late 70's! Outstanding cast, well written. Hasn't been shown in reruns on tv in years, so it was nice to watch them again. Unfortunately, Sony hasn't released the other seasons. There is a petition to release seasons 3,4 and 5 here: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/family12/petition.html

I haven't watched the dvd yet because I really, really busy. I know when I use to watch "Family" as a child that I really loved the series. Especially, Kristy McNicholas as a actress. I really appreciate being able to find and purchase this series. Great Seller!!
