Fanny Hill (DVD, 2008)

This was very close to the book. If you like erotic movies and nudity doesn't bother you, you will love Fanny Hill.

I've read Cleland's book more than once. Eroticism with artistry coupled with bawdy humour! Although very graphic, you won't find one single expletive in the whole book. Indeed a classic.

If the script originally intended to capture any of Cleland's subjective titillations, those portions must have ended up on the cutting room floor. The result is a pot pourri of dull senseless antics and dialogue. Not one performance worth mentioning. Not their fault. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear!

This is a fun sexy movie. The acting is good and seems to be historically accurate. There are some really hot sex scenes and beautiful characters.

For the most part, the story line was actually pretty good. However, I could have done away with the abundance of nudity. It was like porn with a legitimate plot. If you're looking for something different to watch this is it. I would recommend renting or buying it used I don't think its worth retail.

This is a good movie. Enough subtle 'british' humor to lighten it up. A little 'bawdy' but that's what it's about.
