Album NotesComposer: John Ottman.Personnel: Tim Davis (vocals).Audio Mixers: Ben Grosse; Bob Marlette.Audio Remixer: Josh Deutsch.Like most soundtrack compilations (there's a separate album on the Varese Sarabande label that includes the full original score) FANTASTIC 4: THE ALBUM contains an eclectic mix of new songs by recent chart-toppers in a variety of styles, mixed with new tracks by young and unknown artists hoping to gain some early recognition. Usually, the results of these conglomerations are pretty dire, with A&R Department muscle and cross-promotional "synergy" hanging over the project like a wet towel. But careful consideration was given to the assembly of this 20-track set, which includes better-than-average new songs from Chingy and Joss Stone, whose "Whatever Happened To The Heroes" sounds powerful enought to garner the UK soul sensation some US mainstream attention. The two new artists getting exposure are Megan McCauley, whose songs recall her label-mates Evanescence (though McCauley has more vocal control), and Miri Ben-Ari, an Israeli violinist whose collaboration with Kanye West, "New World Symphony," is a startlingly ambitious and unexpectedly successful blend of classical influences and hip-hop beats.
