Farce of the Penguins (DVD, 2007)

I had never heard about this film until I saw it on ebay. This a comedic spoof on "March of the Penguins". Written and directed by comedian Bob Saget of "Full House" and "America's Funniest Videos". The cast of voices are all very recognizable comedians or actors such as: Samuel L. Jackson, Lewis Black, Jason Alexander, Christina Applegate, Tracy Morgan, Mo'nique, and of course Bob Saget to name a few. The footage seems to be clips from "March of the Penguins" but the diatribe between the penguins is hilarious, if not slightly off-color! It is not recommended for children and is unrated. If you enjoy Bob Saget's style of stand-up comedy then you will love this film! I felt like I had the best of 2 movies at once!

Though it may look like a cute, animated penguin movie, Farce of the Penguins' isn't for kids. It's Bob Saget's classic, surprisingly crude humor--pretty much all of which revolves around sex (and, occasionally, fart jokes). Think of it as 'Animal Planet' meets 'American Pie' or you can see it as a foul mouthed send up of the 'March of the Penguins.'

The concept of 'Farce of the Penguins' is priceless. There isn't a single shot of original photography used. It's all stock photography, pieced together and worked into a script that's voiced by just about everyone in Hollywood (or at least those who owed Bob Saget a favor). There's no fancy animation, no special effects. While I definitely appreciate the creativity behind it, though, the story is pretty rough. Some of the jokes get really old after a while--and the 80-minute movie could have easily ended after 60.

While there are some great parts to 'Farce of the Penguins' (like the penguins who wander off and end up victims of Global Warming--or Juan Sanchez, the penguin who loses his mind and goes off on an adventure), watching it often feels like being on the outside of a very detailed inside joke. Though I'm sure it was really funny in the studio--when everyone was hanging around, recording the voices--it's pretty clear that you just had to be there to appreciate parts of it. So the best part of the DVD is actually the making-of feature, which shows the voice talent in the studio, recording their parts. That made me laugh out loud more than the movie itself did.

'Farce of the Penguins' isn't for everyone. In fact, it's probably not for most people. But for fans of Saget's crude humor, it's good for a few laughs--especially if you polish off a few drinks before watching it.

This movie was just hilarious. It comes from the disturbed mind of Bob Saget. For some who do not know, Bob Saget's comedy is totally different from what you remember seeing on Full House and AFV. In the comedy scene Bob is known for his vulgar and graphic jokes that you defenitely don't want your kids to see.

The use of voices from other comics and tied to actual footage make this a movie to remember. Farce of the Penguins raises the bar for adult comedys with penguins...lol

If you watched the HBO special "The Aristocrats" then you know what to expect.

I cant take it anymore. I first time I saw this movie it was on cable tv because nothin else was on. I had already seen March of the Penguins out of curiousity & love Happy Feet (especially Ramone & am a penguin lover). While watching Farce of the Penguions I dont know which part it was that made me say my famous "Oh my God" quote but I do know that I was LMAO ever since that scene & havent stopped yet. It will have U laugin uncontrollably. I did not expect Farce of the Penguins 2 B anything like this. The story is way different from what I thought. The jokes. The scenes. The characters. The casts (voices). I can go on. I dont know what else 2 tell U. WARNING: B PREPARED CAUSE YOU WILL LAFF YOUR ARSE OFF. Thats all I can tell U. Even my child loved it. She saw me watchin it on cable & then later on my DVD. After all this talk about it I will go watch it again.

well i thought this movie was the cartoon movie i heard about from my friend. so with that being said i thought this movie was one of the worst movies that has been made. it was about a group of penguins traveling to mate with comedian voices as the penguins , and for the most part was not funny other than carlos mencia's part that was the only thing i thought was remotely funny and interesting about the movie. all the people voice's in the movie probably could have done alot better if it was a movie with them in it in person so to tell u the truth i wasted my money SO DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. thank you
