Movie synopsis

FEAR.COM just may be the cure for the common addiction to surfing the net. Leave it to William Malone, the director of the relentlessly mortifying HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL to take a scary situation and make it infinitely worse. This time it's not the house that's haunted, it's the computer, and it is actually killing people too. Stephen Dorff and Natasha McElhone play two insipid but earnest cops on the trail of a virtual murder suspect, while the deeply unsettling Stephen Rea is a torture fiend who lures bafflingly dim-witted women into the most horrifying locations he can find and gets it all on tape.FEAR.COM borrows the noirish overtones of David Fincher's SEVEN, the graphic imagery of Tarsem Singh's THE CELL and some of the so-called realistic, handheld video techniques of the first BLAIR WITCH. There are many promising combinations of psychological imagery here, suggesting Malone may be hitting his stride after successfully breaking free of the Hollywood haunted house domain. FEAR.COM is not for the faint of heart (though HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL was arguably more violent and disturbing). If you love a good horror flick there are a few serious freak-outs here you simply would not want to miss.

This is an interesting thriller of a movie. It sounds similar to the movie Untraceable, since it involves a website which has people dying as the main point of the site. However, it is dangerous to those who log on because they have only 48 hours to live and during that time they will be haunted by their deepest fear prior to death. In Untraceable, the woman who tries to find the person behind the website becomes stalked so it is hazardous to her health as well.

I'd like to see more movies like this. Since the internet is a popular thing and the chill factor is really there when it comes to deadly websites.

I think the movie, One Missed Call, is also similar but with the use of cell phones instead of the internet.

I recommend this film and the other 2, which I have yet to see but are sure they are awesome, to anyone who is a fan of this new genre of death by internet / cell phone.

Puke!!

This movie was just horrible. I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out. Stephen Dorf I feel is a very good actor but the direction of the movie flip flopped and there were some situations they exposed but never had gone back to. I think the Director went out to lunch in the middle of the movie and never came back. I actually have an ongoing joke with my brother about this movie b/c it’s so bad. “Hey guess what I got you for Xmas.” “Ooooo Feardotcom????”.
