Album Notes
Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, bass guitar); Alex Lifeson (guitar); Neil Peart (drums).Liner Note Author: Neil Peart. For those long-time Rush fans who've always enjoyed the group's early, pre-2112 straight-ahead hard rock, FEEDBACK will come as a welcome diversion from the Canadian trio's later, much more complex work. An album of 1960s-era cover tunes that were inspirational to the band members early in their careers, the disc brings Rush back to basics, stripping away the synthesizers, effects-laden guitar, and percussion triggers, leaving only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. From the opening notes of "Summertime Blues" (seemingly inspired equally by the Blue Cheer and Who LIVE AT LEEDS versions), the band's love of these songs is obvious; this is the unadulterated sound of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart having fun rocking out. Wisely, Rush never strays too far from the original arrangements, which allows the record to evoke the feeling of stumbling onto the world's greatest classic-rock bar band.

On this CD, Rush covers mid 60's tunes which have influenced them, many of which they covered with their eariler bands (Mumblin' Sumpthin', The Projection, The Dusty Coconuts, Waterlogged Gorilla Fingers, the Wild Woodpecker Review, and the Aquiline Dimention). Excellent Hard Rock covers of 1966 and 1967 classic rock tunes. Summertime Blues, Heart Full of Soul, The Seeker, For What It's Worth, Shapes of Things, Mr. Soul, Crossroads, Seven And Seven Is.
Great Job by One of the Best Bands Ever! Thanks, guys!

Rock on!!

Great to hear the boys having fun doing covers! It seems like there must be some unwritten rule somewhere that every band that forms must do a 'cover of crossroads'! He- he! They did a great job on covering these songs but its also very clear you are listening to 'RUSH'. Their own style always blasts through and they make the music their own. Geddys voice always amazing, Alex's guitar speaks so passionatly, and the ever present beating heart of Neils drums. I feel like I've had a little glimplse into what type of music has influenced them. I'm looking forword to many more years of music from this amazing group of artists who are also each others close freinds. I think its the friendship that keeps the music so tight just like they are. Rock on!!

FEEDBACK - RUSH

Created: 05/03/07
I was a teenager during the 60's and heard the songs that Rush covers on this album. Rush proves that they still rock and I was impressed with the fact that they only used guitars and drums. Summertime Blues is worth the cost of the cd alone! I'm a long time Rush fan and I was very pleased for them to do a cover album. Rock on guys...

If you grew up in the 60's or have a REAL appreciation for this music, the covers that Rush excellently execute on this CD will just knock your socks off! Summertime Blues rocks more than the original and Crossroads is as good as (GASP! Sacre bleu!) Clapton's!! Geddy, Alex, and Neil just do these songs the justice they deserve, stay true to the originals but in a way that totally reflects them. I love it! My only complaint is that it is too short, only 8 tracks, but crank them up, baby!

Rush goes "Back to the Future".

Created: 09/06/06
Canada's power trio wormholes back in time to rekindle some solid 60's standards. Being a Rush fan for 3 decades plus I would have bought this sight unseen anyway and was happy I did after first listen. I got it for a good price and the timing was right. "Summertime Blues"(track 1) is one of my favorite all time songs and Rush comes out swinging and nails it. This would be a good album for a person to discover the versatility that this band is famous for. Rock Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
