Fern Gully - The Last Rainforest

Created: 29/04/08
This movie is an enticing, magical movie that people of all ages will love.
It is about coming together and helping one another to help to keep pollution from killing our forests, but also our earth. It is replacing the smoke, oil, sludge, and gas with plants, flowers, and animals. Overcoming evil pollution killing our world, and connecting with the forests, feeling their pain, and doing our part as an individual, and as a collective group to keep them alive.
The fairies of the forest help life grow, and when the metal monster machines come to cut down the trees, they free Hexus, the evil monster who feeds off of pollution and is set to destroy Fern Gully and the rainforest. Zak, a human doing his summer job of putting red X's on the trees, is saved and therefore shrunk by Crysta, the magical fairy. With the help of Batty, the bat escaped from the human laboratory, Crysta, the animals, trees, flowers, and other fairies, Zak is enlightened that the forests are alive and humans are hurting them. They may defeat Hexus, but humans could and will come back and continue the damage, unless Zak can be un-shrunk, and bring the message back to the city.
Overall this movie is so touching and truthful, that it was my favourite movie 12 years ago. Now my 3 year old wants to watch it over and over, cheering on the fairies, and giving Hexus trouble for wanting to hurt the plants. I would reccomend this movie to EVERYONE, as we can all learn from this movie.

Ferngully - the first Avitar

A Kid Flick for sure, but has plenty of mystery and storyline to keep parents watching. Not as flashing animation as recent productions, but well drawn and a plot that keeps moving along. A nice simple version of Avitar without the level of violence.

This is a great movie, I used to have it on VHS when I was a kid, and lately have wanted that comfort of flashing back to the past with movies I used to watch a lot when i was a kid. It would be great for a family with children because it comes with the second disk full of games and extras. plus, you can't beat the price of buying it on Ebay!

I have always loved this movie! This movie first came out in 1992 and warned of the dangers of destroying the rain forests with an animated and musical twist. The movie is timeless with its message of saving the planet that every child would enjoy, as well as adults!!

Great for children to learn to appreciate our forests!

It is a great story that teaches our children that everything in our world is important... even though they cannot all tell us they are in pain or sad. That when we destroy something for our convenience, we are not just destroying the obvious beauty, but the life and ecosystem of those we share our world with. Key being that we need to "Share" our world.
