For a Few Dollars More
Created: 26/11/09
In the second film in Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western trilogy (A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS being the first and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY the last), the Man with No Name (Clint Eastwood) teams up with gunslinger Colonel Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) in order to extract reward money from Indio (Gian Maria Volonte), a mean and vicious bandit. There is little doubt as to No Name's financial intentions in the hunt, but Mortimer seems to be driven by something a bit deeper. A series of flashbacks (which would become a Leone signature device) provides the background for Colonel Mortimer's anger and desire for revenge. Morricone's score combined with Leone's trademark long and lingering shots bring the viewer ever closer to the human side of the Man with No Name. Although the film was not released in the United States until 1967, it was produced and released internationally in 1965.

"Classic Western Sequel!"

Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef star in Sergio Leone's 1965
western sequel. A gunman and a mercenary hunt a crazed bandit.
Clint and Lee are great together and this 2-disc set has nice
picture and sound plus cool extras. Definitely pick up this
classic western sequel.

The second Spaghetti Western of its kind, but it won't be the last.

Clint Eastwood is back.
And Lee Van Cleef is waiting.
Sergio Leone exceededs audience expectations with a far superior sequel that would lead to the cinematic greatness of THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY.
Eastwood plays a quick-witted bounty hunter on the trail of El Indio, played by an awesomely, over-the-top Gian-Maria Volonte. Unfortunatly, his rival, Van Cleef is determined to capture the bandit first for personal reasons.
More emotional and more complex than FISTFUL, the film takes the time to properly introduce the characters.
Despite being called THE MAN WITH NO NAME trilogy, each installment centers around a different main character. FISTFUL revolves around Eastwood, FEW DOLLARS MORE focuses on Van Cleef, and TGTB&TU emphases on Eli Wallach. Therefore, the characters come full circle.
Ennio Morricone's soundtrack contains memorable scores such as The Pocket Watch and El Indio's First Showdown.
And who could forget Klaus Kinski as the hunchbacked Wild. FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE is the second Spaghetti Western of its kind, but it won't be the last.

Spaghetti Western masterpieces

I am obsessed with Clint Eastwood and "the man with no name", and have since begun collecting the DVDs. The special edition double-discs include the restored and remastered film as well as lots of special features.
