Good book, could use some work.

I own this book and it is great if you are studying herbal, medicinal plants, but it is not very good for a field guide. The organization is a little weak, and there are pictures for most plants, but pictures are really not the way to go. You just kind of flip through the book and look for a plant that you recognize and read about it. It does have good descriptions for the uses of plants, both past, present and future, but it is riddled with doubt. (This is probably because they aren't allowed to say that a plant cures any disease.)
Overall, this book isn't very good as a field guide, but is good for study. It is fun looking up health conditions in the back of the book and seeing which plants are good for the condition. For the price, this is a good book to have in your collection of Peterson field guides.

Excellent book. Very informative,Full of so much related information as well. I bought this book because I study herbs, and wanted a more hangs on knowledge to that which I work with, a respect for the plants I use to heal with. I only find one draw back, the picture's are kind of small so it can be difficult to be sure of what you are actually harvesting, because many plants do look similar and some Identical with subtle differences. So far I have found no better book on the market. All and All, I give it 5 stars. Thanks

This is the third copy of this book I have owned. As far as I am concerned, this is the best field guide to medicinal plants and herbs that you can get! There are photos of almost every single plant that is described.
