hmmm...

I have to admit I bought this dvd because of the cheap price I found it for and also that it stars Mike Patton who is more famous for his contribution to the world of music.
This film begins and moves well, drags a little in the middle and then picks up more towards the end. It is a bit depressing. It is a tragedy so that figures and is also based on actual events in Kansas (somewhere in the middle of the U.S.!)
Patton actually does a good job with the acting considering it is not his career, yet. Karen Black does a superb job as well as the newcomer who plays Jimmy.
If you are looking for a feel good film, this is not it. It is a sad film about the dark side of, um... Americana?
You be the judge.

Torn.

As my title suggests, I am a bit torn when it comes to rating this movie. I have been a huge Mike Patton fan for 17 years and have all of his musical endeavors. So, of course, I had to watch his acting debut. He is definitely not a good actor, although he definitely adds something to the David (brother) character. Frank (the circus owner) was so way over the top it was hard not to giggle every time he came into a scene--but that was probably the point. The story was pretty good, and Karen Black was phenomenal in both of her roles. I would recommend this movie only to people who have slightly twisted minds. Luckily this describes most Mike Patton fans.

Firecracker DVD

This is not a very good movie but I am a die-hard Mike Patton fan and he plays two roles in this film so, naturally, I had to see it. Even though I will never watch it again, it is still a neat collector's item. Mike acted very well in the movie but it was just horrendous.

Much as I am in tears to admit, I did not enjoy this movie. Having followed Mike through FNM since The Real Thing, and loving his latest projects (all five thousand of them!) I had to watch this movie. I made a sincere effort, but I just couldn't make it past half way. Maybe the arty flavour of this flick is lost on me, I dunno... its a good thing to have in your Patton collection though. I felt the acting from pretty much the entire cast was pretty average and the movie was dreadfully slow moving.
Sorry guys, Mike should stick with what he does better than ANYONE else and thats creating music.
