Excellent thriller , Harrison Ford is superb and back on form!!!!
Jack Stanfield (Harrison Ford) is an average family man in Seattle who heads up the hi-tech security team at his local bank. But following a seemingly trivial case of identity theft, Jack's life is turned upside-down when he discovers that his wife (Virginia Madsen) and two kids have been kidnapped. The ransom? A mere 100 million dollars, which the kidnappers, led by Bill Cox (Paul Bettany), want Jack to obtain for them via his expert computer skills. Initially compliant, Jack is soon irked by Cox and his cronies to the point where he decides to get his family back and bring the bad guys to justice. British Director Richard Loncraine (WIMBLEDON) uses this basic premise to orchestrate a number of frantic set-pieces, while Ford concocts a character similar to his take on Dr. Richard Kimble in THE FUGITIVE. With a mouthful of computer jargon and nimble fingers that tumble frantically over a keyboard whenever he's in front of a computer, Ford's character is an unlikely action hero. Meanwhile, Bettany's bad guy gives subtly sinister instructions in his clipped British accent, Robert Forster (JACKIE BROWN) provides a likeable if underused ally for Ford, and Madsen slots neatly into her wife-in-peril role. As the film builds to an explosive climax Loncraine dumps the gadgets and carves out a delirious romp through action-movie conventions, ultimately infusing an old-fashioned story with a twist of 21st-century techno-fear

A 'PERSONAL' NOTE .
Created: 20/02/09
For the record, I heartily endorse this film and would recommend it to any friend, fan or anyone who enjoys a good action film.
Of course, this is HARRISON FORD's first role in quite some time and proceeded his much anticipated fourth installment in the INDIANA JONES francise.
HOWEVER, if I am allowed some latitude here, I would like to say something
about this film; especially the highly original plot twist near the beginning, that is how the kidnappers gained entrance to the Stanfield's family residence.
I make mention for PERSONAL REASONS, but unless I am mistaken, and if the evidence is true, it just may be that that my unwitting input here may have added something 'special' to what would otherwise be just another bland thriller.
Check out my ebay moniker 'Pizza Warrior' for a clue here, as well as being a huge fan of one of the stars, VIRGINIA MADSEN, who plays Mrs Stanfield.
Also, it is worth noting that in many of her films, there is sort of an 'in joke' in regards to a scene or two that indicates a direct reference to her.
If so, should I be a little CONCERNED ???
If someone reads this and knows anybody connected with this film, ask them and get back to me.
I am not ANGRY, just CURIOUS is all, and if I have reason to feel EMBARRASSED, I probably deserve whatever this may mean.
As usual, eBay offers all a bargain here.

Harrison Ford has done better.............Average Film
Created: 14/08/06
I bought this on dvd and was a little disappointed. It was a good story about (basically) a bank robbery for $100,000,000. But, instead of an actual heist, it's done by electronic transfer and the internet. Harrison Ford plays Jack, the guy in charge of the computer/account security for a bunch of banks. His family gets kidnapped and he is forced to help the robbers. The movie is OK but nothing special. If you like Harrison Ford, you will probably like this film. But, don't expect the quality or entertainment value you get when Ford played The Fugitive, Indiana Jones, or Han Solo. This movie could of been better. Ocean's Eleven was a better heist movie.

Firewall dvd

Harrison Ford, portrays a married man in this film, just like the trailer shows. His average life comes to an abrupt end, when they take his family. They want their money. But to get to their money, first there is alot of negotiations. Like so many other edge of your seat films. This one keeps your attention and keeps you on the edge of your seat. You are always trying to second guess what is going to happen next. And it throws you when it doesnt happen at all that way.
This is one for the dvd shelf.
I rate this excellent for the productivity, the directing and the casting.
The compassionism, and the fearfulness. And the surprise ending.
A Must see.

This Firewall is hard to get through...
Created: 20/07/06
Firewall starring Harrison Ford looks like it is going to be another exciting movie in the vein of Patriot Games and Air Force One, but it was far from it. Harrison really looks old and tired in this movie. At times it was hard to watch. He really looked like his wifes father and his kids' grandfather as opposed to their dad. Yet, With a good supporting cast, including Cloe from 24, there are the usual twists and turns in the plot, leading you down one possible scenerio but then to another. The "Firewall" was technically only breeched once in this movie when they stole money from his account. Then, with nowhere else to go in the plot, they invaded his home and held his family hostage. Now the movie goes down predictable territory. The ending is pretty ho-hum and then its finally over. The movie might have had a little more "umph" to it if there was more personality, like maybe starring Michael Douglas, or a younger leading actor, take your pick. Firewall is recommended if you can get it cheap.
