extremely tough but worth the pain
Created: 26/03/08
I have had this workout in my collection for about 12 years now, and even though it's only on VHS I still keep it in my regular rotation. I first bought it when my (now teenage) son was a baby and I used it all the time - I was able to drop about 30 pounds in conjunction with dieting!!! This routine is so tough you will want to die but it is so worth it if you can stick it out. Beginners shouldn't use any weights and will need to take a lot of breaks, Intermediates can use light/medium dumbbells but will still need to take some breaks, Advanced can use an array of light/medium/heavy weights plus ankle weights, and perhaps will need a break now and again as well. Drink lots of water! During the exercise the instructor gets out a 2x4 in order to do deep squats - I hate this because who has clean lumber lying around? Just do regular deep squats on the floor until you can hit your local lumber yard, or skip the wood altogether. My overall opinion is that this is a very effective workout if you have determination and can handle 60 minutes of pushing your body to its limits.

This is my 3rd Volume 1 The Firm by Susan Harris that I have owned. The first two I actually wore out. The Firm puts out the best home video workouts on the market. If you have the discipline to workout on your own this is a must have total body workout that I can't live without.

Very hard to do, but worth the effort.

This is one of the few workout videos that works the entire body. Results are obvious, and encouraging. It is very hard to do, at first, but you will feel very good the first time you make it all the way through or need to buy heavier weights because you are no longer being challenged. Great video.

I like this vid for being a simple and sweet workout routine. It builds muscles in both the arms and legs and abs. It has a nice warmup with pelvic excercises and then running section sure gets your heart rate up. The weight training parts are excellent and create good form for the arms. There is good floor leg work and there is also leg balance section with tuba music in the background. Most of the music is up-beat 80's dance grooves. Its a good workout and You'll be sure to work up a sweat with this hot video.
