Movie synopsis

This computer-animated feature, directed by David Bowers and Sam Fell, explores a whole new world under London. A pet mouse named Roddy St. James (voiced by Hugh Jackman) is pretty much spoiled rotten. His owners live in a chic Kensington apartment, and Roddy has everything he could possibly want--except friends and a family. Everything changes for Roddy when his owners go away for a few days and their flat is invaded by a common rat, Sid (Shane Richie). Determined to reclaim his apartment and boot out the intruder, Roddy tries to talk Sid into enjoying the apartment "Jacuzzi," which is actually the toilet. But Sid is smarter than he looks, and soon Roddy is traveling down the pipes out of his sheltered life into a world that he never knew existed. Emerged in Ratropolis and completely out of his element, Roddy is immediately caught up in an adventure. He meets Rita (Kate Winslet), a street-smart scavenger who travels the sewers by boat looking for riches that will help her care for her parents and multitude of siblings, and hires her to help him get above ground. But the villainous Toad (Ian McKellen) and his rodent henchmen, Spike (Andy Serkis) and Whitey (Bill Nighy), are constant problems. To make matters worse, the Toad is preparing to hatch an evil plot that promises to wipe out all the rats and mice dwelling underground, and he brings in his mercenary Parisian cousin Le Frog (Jean Reno) and his team to help get the job done. This comedy/adventure features first-class animation from the team that created WALLACE & GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT and is voiced by an all-star cast.

Entertaining with humor for all the family!

Created: 17/02/07
Flushed Away is a highly entertaining, humorous movie for all the family.
An animated offering from the Dreamworks / Aardman team that brought us Wallace and Gromit; it stands apart from the many other animated films that were brought to use in 2006 - with superb visuals, a captivating plot and a lot of multilevel humor that has something to appeal to all ages!
This movie is set in the depths of the London Sewerage system - hardly the setting one would expect for a kids movie - but this segway provides the opportunity for lots of humor that one could expect from this setting - though nothing too offensive - just silly fun!
Roddy (played by Hugh jackman who does a very authentic British accent) -is the society mouse who lives in one of the most affluent areas of London - in a palatial cage; he finds his path crossed with Sid the sewer mouse played by British commedian Shane Richie - the perfect authentic Cockney to work this part! Suddenly Roddy is thrust into sewer life leaving all his riches behind - and there begins a funny adventure with many characters that help develop the plot and inject humor...the singing slugs are not to be missed, popping up at every opportune moment to lend us a tune!
Roddy meets Rita played by Kate Winslet - and they work together to get him home - but of course there is a twist which leaves Roddy wondering just what to do!
This is a fun filled movie, with a perfect run time of a just under 90 minutes! Perfect length to keep the family entertained and the plot engaging! Well worth a look!!

A Charming Animated Film With Some Laughs For All Ages

Created: 08/03/07
Flushed Away is a charming film that will certainly entertain children and may even produce a few laughs from the adult crowd as well. When Roddy, a civilized uptown rat, is flushed down the toilet, he finds himself in a sewer adventure as he struggles to find his way home. This movie features a colorful cast with some talented voice actors. The film also features some fun and catchy music. The story is a too strong, but the comedy is. A villainous frog (Ian McKellen) is hoping to make a mess of Roddy's life, along with everyone else in the sewer city including a Rat named Rita (Kate Winslet). Rita befriends Roddy and helps him in his quest for the surface which leads to all kinds of trouble, comedy, and narrow escapes. Although my expectations which have been set somewhat low by most of Dreamworks attempts at animation, Flushed Away surpassed my expectations. Although the film still isn't up to par with Pixar greats, you still should check this one out.

I am rating this 3/5-average

This is an animated film set in the undergrounds of London.Roddy has the life, but wants more then a spoiled pet life.He wants action, and to explore the world outside. So he does!

The film was entertaining and heart warming, along with humor, and action. It was fun for the family. The kids liked it,but haven't watched it more then twice.

Voice actors include:Hugh Jackman,Sir Ian McKellan,Bill Nighy,Kate Winslet,Shane Ritchie,and many more!

So I will recommend this if you can find it at a good price!

NOT AS GOOD AS CARS BUT STILL FUNNY

Created: 15/04/07
Saw it with my wife and our eight and four years olds. The kids loved it, and the wife and I got a few smiles from the slugs who serve as sort of a Greek chorus for the action. Expect a short starring them on the DVD, ala the penguins in Madagascar. For the kids the Rube Goldberg inventions in the Rat City and the never really very threatening action sequences worked really well, and the few half-hearted stabs at "grown-up" humor were on the level of grabbing on to something while floating in sewer water that ended up being a candy bar, so no serious danger there. For adults there were some French frogs doing most of the jokes you'd expect, including a Monty Python and some mime bits, but not much. And the voice talent was a little bland considering the cast. The kids were clamoring to see it again immediately, though, and both my eight and four year olds rated Flushed Away as much better than Ice Age and a little better than Cars, though not as good as Monsters Inc. or Nemo. So I guess it must be pretty good.

Funny & Cute

Created: 01/03/07
This is a really cute movie. I have a 10 year old Daughter, and a 9 old nephew I am rasing, and I am always buying movies for them because they are really into the movies especially my daughter. I sat down with them and so did my husband and I must say this is really a cute one, and it's full of laughs. Anyway it's about this pet rat names Roddy, and his owners go out of town and he gets out of his cage has a little fun then along comes a sewer rat who comes and invades his home and then that sewer rats flushes him down the toilet where he ends up in the sewer with the rest of the sewer rats but then he has a journey of trying to get his way back home, and he comes across, frogs, and even singing slugs. This is full a cute animated animals, and creatures and also full of laughs. This is worth buying for the kiddies they will love it, and will watch it more than once mine have already. My money was well spent on this one. I give it a 5 out of a 5 rating.
