The Foot Fist Way (DVD, 2008, special edition)

Jody Hill, Danny McBride, Ben Best|Theatrical release: 2008 | Rating: R (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

The literal translation of "Tae Kwan Do," THE FOOT FIST WAY is a hilarious look at a suburban North Carolina strip mall martial arts school run by a bullying egotist (Danny McBride). Shot on the cheap (in just 19 days), the film uses its shortcomings to its advantage, keeping the action low, the kicks flying, the wood splintering, and getting all the minutiae of after-school karate class just right. Co-screenwriter/star McBride brings realistic gym coach qualities galore to his character, Mr. Simmons; the deadpan documentary tone is spot-on and there's a sense these students are actually learning this art as the movie goes on. McBride's writing partners play other Tae Kwan Do professionals: Ben Best is fun as the debauched action movie star rival, Chuck the Trucki; co-writer/director Jody Hill shows up in a hilarious bit as Simmons's mystical fifth-level blackbelt compadre. Mary-Jane Bostic is frighteningly vivid as the spandex-clad, habitually unfaithful Mrs. Simmons. Stylistically, this comedy has a lot in common with deadpan fly-on-the-wall mockumentaries like THE OFFICE and BORAT. Thematically, there are in-depth looks into issues of male maturity and bonding, so beloved of the Will Ferrell genre (Ferrell's company snatched it up after it rocked the house at Sundance). Be warned: though the movie is full of little kids, it earns its R-rating with disrespectful language and drugs/sex/violence-filled situations. The very cool prog rock score is by Pyramid.

Hilarious! Great Movie

Created: 15/07/11
Danny McBride is known for his rude acting style in various roles. In The fist Foot way he plays a Tai Kwon Do Sensai who trains youth in the martial art. going through rough times with his wife who cheated on him, the only thing he thought would help is to go see their all time favorite martial arts fighter Chuck The Truck Wallace. On this trip he takes his right hand man 15, year old Julio and his friend. This trip got way to out of controll and follows them all the way back home where Danny mcbride is forced to fight Blackbelt Chuck The truck. Who Will Win?
Amazingly Funny, Litterly LOLing 5/5

150th best movies of all time

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Still one of the 150th best movies of all time. It is the reason that mixed martial arts has taken off in Brazil. It is the Footfist Way of Footfist Way much like Rocky was the Rocky of its genre. My mom hated it so you know its good. I would not recomend for kids unless your talking about yourself. Do not let your wife watch or you will violate man code rule #107 section B paragraph 2 that states: Although martial arts/martial comedy can be viewed for the purposes of dating, furthermore should only be used to test if she likes/loves/hates you in a audio visual gauntlet of man comedy and prohibited for use of man trade secrets. Nothing rhymes with beer better than Foot Fist Way!!

One of those movies you can watch over and over again. The character was built for Danny Mcbride....you wont be able to look at a TKD instructor without laughing once you see this. The scene at the party where all hell breaks loose is worth the price of the movie by itself.
