Forever Knight - The Trilogy: Part Two (DVD, 2005, 6-Disc Set)

Geraint Wyn Davies, Catherine Disher|Theatrical release: 1994 | Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

Nick Knight is a man with a past, and it happens to span the centuries. Having become a vampire during the 13th Century, he was responsible for countless human deaths before deciding, in modern-day Toronto, to give up his undead inclinations and pursue redemption and, ultimately, mortality. His guilt leads him to become a homicide investigator, fighting the most brutal criminals of the urban underbelly. However, his own demons might prove an even more dire nemesis, as well as Lucien LaCroix, the vampire who initiated him centuries ago, who is determined that Nick remain a vampire. Nick is aided in his quest for justice by his partner, Donald Schanke, who knows nothing of his true identity, as well as crack forensics specialist Dr. Natalie Lambert, and the beautiful vampire Janette, whose loyalty to Knight remains intact despite her involvement in the vampire community. In this season, Nick falls for an author whose understanding of the vampire underworld astounds him in "Stranger Than Fiction;" Nick is brainwashed by the Luminology cult in "Faithful Followers;" Schanke becomes star-struck while working a case on the lot in "Amateur Night;" and Nick just might finally be forced to reveal the truth to his partner in "Close Call." Other episodes include "A Fate Worse Than Death," "Forward Into the Past," "Father's Day," "Bad Blood," "Baby, Baby," and many others.

A "Must" for Vampire Horror Afficionados!

Created: 18/10/09
I was fortunate to catch this series in reruns on the scifi channesl since missing it's network run on NBC. With the reassurgence of vampire lore popularity it's too bad this series isn't premiering NOW on one of the networks!!! It was an excellent series and Geraint Wyn Davies and cast made the series FLY!!! Granted, some aspects are dated--get a chuckle at the walkie-talkie-sized cell phones and boxy looking computers but it was a sign of the time. The stories are well written and give more thought to storytelling than busy special effects that could distract from the story.
One of the things which could be considered minor is the fact when we visit the Raven (bar where vampires are known to congregate),and which is quite often we hear the same song!!!
Loved the way the modern day vampire story toggles back to incidents in Lt. Nick Knight's past. On several occasions we are introduced to well-know historical figures and get to enjoy or cringe depending on who the historical characters are. One scene that blew me away happened on a train and set in early 1920's Germany. Knight and his mentor meet a young and not yet well-known Adolph Hitler. Found the interaction fascinating!!!

Would recommend this series to any horror fan afficionado!!!

Forever Knight - The Trilogy: Part Two

I've always been a big fan of this series and was really glad to buy the entire trilogy. The second season was much better than the first. You finally got to see these characters have more dimension. It wasn't just pure evil vs pure good. There is greater understanding of who Nick is as well as who Lacroix is and what drives them. The choices they must make are getting harder.

I wish there was more in terms of commentaries. I was also hoping to hear from the female characters as well.

Great vampire detective story. A series that is well done and keeps the attention while using the treadmill or elyptical. Makes exercising a joy when you do not like to exercise and are into vampire stories.
Enjoyed the entire series. But it is dark and you may want to take a break between episodes, get out of the house and get your vitamin D.

Before "Twilight" there was Nick Knight

Not being a fan of horror flics, I was curious about this series on TV. To my "horror", I was intrigued to the point of not wanting to miss an episode. Not realizing that it was available on video, I purchased the first season (at a pawn shop) and became re-aquainted with it. I was thrilled to find the remaining 2 seasons on eBay.
