    Publisher's Note
Every so often a character so captures the hearts and imaginations of readers that he seems to take on a life of his own long after the final page is turned. For such a character, one book is not enough—readers must know what happens next. Now Dean Koontz returns with the novel his fans have been demanding. With the emotional power and sheer storytelling artistry that are his trademarks, Koontz takes up once more the story of a unique young hero and an eccentric little town in a tale that is equal parts suspense and terror, adventure and mystery—and altogether irresistibly odd.

We’re all a little odd beneath the surface. He’s the most unlikely hero you’ll ever meet—an ordinary guy with a modest job you might never look at twice. But there’s so much more to any of us than meets the eye—and that goes triple for Odd Thomas. For Odd lives always between two worlds in the small desert town of Pico Mundo, where the heroic and the harrowing are everyday events. Odd never asked to communicate with the dead—it’s something that just happened. But as the unofficial goodwill ambassador between our world and theirs, he’s got a duty to do the right thing. That’s the way Odd sees it and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death.

A childhood friend of Odd’s has disappeared. The worst is feared. But as Odd applies his unique talents to the task of finding the missing person, he discovers something worse than a dead body, encounters an enemy of exceptional cunning, and spirals into a vortex of terror. Once again Odd will stand against our worst fears. Around him will gather new allies and old, some living and some not. For in the battle to come, there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. Whether you’re meeting Odd Thomas for the first time or he’s already an old friend, you’ll be led on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror, wonder and delight—to a revelation that can change your life. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

    From the Hardcover edition.

In the unique world of Pico, Odd--a hero who lives between the living and the dead--takes a stand against evil in a battle where there are no innocent bystanders.

In the unique world of Pico, Odd--an unforgettable hero who lives between the living and the dead--takes a stand against evil in a battle where there are no innocent bystanders. Reprint.

    Forever Odd by Dean Koontz

    Created: 01/02/08
Forever Odd is the second in a trilogy of books by Dean Koontz. I originally bought Brother Odd because the title entrigued me. I found out it was the 3rd in the series and had to find the first two, Odd Thomas and Forever Odd before reading it. Although these are stand alone stories the correct sequence makes the series more compelling. Odd Thomas was misnamed at birth but adjusted to being ODD as he developed a fascinating ability to communicate with the dead. One of his most constant companions is the King, Elvis Presley. His adventures move quickly and hold you to them but Koontz's character is a very human soul who happens to have an unusual gift that leads him into hazardous ventures to help the living and the dead. From short order cook to a peaceful existence in a monastery, interrupted of course by evil that only he is aware of. The life of Odd Thomas is anything but dull. Quite a ride!

    Dean Koontz

I decided to buy this book because of the author. Dean Koontz is a remarkable writer and always keeps me guessing about how the story is going to end. I have read several of his books and will continue to read them. He has a vast library of writings and I extend to eventually enjoy all of them. "Forever Odd" is the second in a series of three books. I was so consumed by the first book, "Odd Thomas" that I read it in a matter of days and generally it takes me a few weeks with my schedule. I would especially recommend these books and the next which is "Brother Odd" to anyone who loves a good action thriller with a little believable supernatural mixed in.

Forever Odd -- Revisiting the world of Odd

    Created: 03/02/07
Dean Koontz has hit upon a very likeable hero in Odd Thomas. Even if you've never been a fry cook you can relate to Odd's desire to live in relative peace and quiet. You can understand his desire to do the right thing when it would be much easier not to, and his empathy for others (living or dead) is heartwarming.
As always, Odd seems to me a little meek to be able to overcome the obstacles placed in his path. Somehow, he taps inner reserves of strength that we could only wish to possess.
Though supernatural, Forever Odd (and Odd Thomas, for that matter)is a little less horror and a little more emotionally deep. Koontz has always entranced me with his ability to make a reader become fully immersed in a character's mind: we can feel what they feel, and fear what they fear. I believe there is a little Odd in all of us, and Mr. Koontz has definitely found a warm, entertaining way of scaring us.

Just as Good as the Original Odd Thomas Novel!!!

    Created: 15/11/06
Forever Odd (Dean Koontz) (The 2nd Book in the Odd Thomas Series)

Odd Thomas is the best series on the face of the planet! In my opinion!

It doesn't matter if you're a Dean Koontz fan, you WILL become an Odd Thomas fan.

Odd Thomas is one of the most likeable characters I have ever come across. As you get further into the novel you will start to really identify with Mr. Thomas.

Forever Odd is just as good, if not better than the original novel in this series (Odd Thomas, Dean Koontz). Odd has grown up a bit, and this novel is a little more graphic than the original, but Forever Odd, like Odd Thomas, is impossible to put down.

Borrow or Buy?: BUY, BUY, BUY!!!

If you haven't read Odd Thomas yet, DO NOT buy this book. Well... buy it, but don't read it. Make sure to read Odd Thomas first. Both books are worth buying and get my 100% stamp of aproval.

    5/5

Be sure to watch out for Brother Odd, the third novel in this spectacular series, due out November 28, 2006.

PLEASE VOTE IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL. Thank you.

Forever Odd by Dean Koontz - book review

    Created: 21/06/10
Odd Thomas, the first book in the series about a young fry cook who can see dead people, was amazing. This follow-up definitely keeps fans satisfied, but it is not as good as the first book. The mysteries weren't explained as well, and the movement was explained TOO well. We follow Odd on his most current adventure, and Koontz being Koontz, we get to hear absolutely every detail about how Odd is feeling, what he is seeing, and what he is smelling at all times. This makes Koontz a great story teller, but I felt that he went overboard in this current book. However, I still give it a 4/5. Great book by one of my all-time favorite authors.
