Forrest Gump (2001,dvd)

Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks,Gary Sinise, and Robin Wright Penn. I can believe this piece of garbage won best picture and best actor for Tom Hanks. This movie was full of special effects and no plot. It was so bad I'm surprised that they didn't have Forrest meeting Jesus. Just about all the critics liked it. That should show you something there. The only interesting character was Lt. Dan played by Gary Sinise. This is by far Robert Zemeckis worst film. I really hope that they never ever make a sequel to this piece of junk. I like Tom Hanks as much as the next guy. Big,Road to Perdition,The burbs, and others, but Forrest Gump belongs in the category of a Bonfire of the vanities and joe versus the volcano. Another irritating part of the movie is the stupid catchprases. This nonsense should nominated for a rasperry for worst film and worst actor.

I have loved this movie from the first time I viewed it at the theater. Our family refers to favorite scenes and we repeat some of the lines such as "Life is like a box of choclates you never know what your going to get..." quite often. So a few months before Christmas my sister and I were talking, about some of what we think are really great parts of the movie "Forrest Gump". My sister said " I'm going to ask my husband to find a copy of this movie, so we can watch it again". I decided then that "Forrest Gump" would be one of her Christmas gifts. I knew our whole family would enjoy watching it again and again. She was very happy with her gift. A few days after Christmas one evening we decided to watch the movie. As usual we laughed and we cried at the different scenes. The biggest surprize (and extra gift) came when in the middle of the movie my 12 year old grandaughter said,"Why is everyone so mean to him when he is so sweet" we looked and she had tears in her eyes. That is when we realized that she had never watched, "Forrest Gump", before. I told her there would always be people in the world who couldn't see beyond a person's disablity or a person's being different from others. Which is why we should never "follow the crowd" or judge too quickly. We should get to know the individual because like those "choclates" you never know what your going to get and if we fail to do that we may miss something or someone really great. And even if you don't like someone after you get to know them there is still no reason to treat them so badly because that just makes you seem ugly. The best thing to do is just stay away from people you don't like or can't get along with because life is hard enough on us all without people causing each other more grief. There are lesson's of life that can be learned from Forrest both the way he was treated by some people and the way that he dealt with it. Also in the way he dealt with life in general. Yes, I know that Forrest is a fictional person but that statment is still true. I don't think any other actor could have brought Forrest to life as well as Tom Hanks. We will always love Forrest and we will watch this movie over and over. Everyone with children old enough should buy and watch this movie with them. Then I don't think there would be so many bullies around and it may help them learn to respect people even when they are different or disabled.

My little brother, fraternally, has a cameo in the movie. When Gary & Tom are in the apartment at Xmas time, there is a shot of the Bob Hope show on the TV. In the audience, they pan to three GI's watching the show and then to the one in the middle. That is First lLt. David M. Ridenour of Bowling Green, Ohio, a graduate of BGSU and a decorated Vietnam Veteran. David is also the past Ohio Commander of the Vietnam Veterans Association of which he is a life member and has been a Guardian twice on Honor Flight to Washington D. C.; once for his father and this past 08/28/2010 for me. We saw Glen Beck and Sarah Palin and all the monuments. Aso, had the pleasure of personally meeting with Elizabeth Dole, Senator Dole's wife, and getting a hug and kiss on the cheek. Overall, probably the greatest experience of my life. I finally felt I came home as a Vietnam Veteran as everyone thanked me for my service.

That is the connection between Forrest Gump and me. Well, Forrest, my name is Captain Dan, Dan Claxton. And life is like a box of chocolates! You never know what you're going to get!

God Bless All Ebayers! Happy Holiday Season To All! And God Bless America!

Run Forrest Run Through History

Created: 24/01/11
A common complaint among students and most all people really is that they can't "get into studying history". Well, it should be recommended viewing for all appropriate ages to view this movie. The movie uses historical fiction and a character named Forrest Gump to teach deep truths and poignant moments in history in a rather simplistic way. Watch the movie: You'll be entertained and much more in tune with where we came from as a nation. What will you see? Well, like Forrest's Momma says, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." To be sure, you'll get a lot of interesting facts in this movie, slighly skewed, never-the-less, facts and it will warm your soul and change you forever.
PS I doubt you will only watch it once!!

It's more than just a box of chocolates...

Created: 05/03/10
One of the best movies ever made, it's already a classic. A the main actor is still making great movies.classic lines,ie My mother said its like a box of chocolates... I've said it so many times that I get confused while saying it. Like My momma says there ain't no more chocolates.( to my kids when I'm trying to tell them that there isn't any more candy, or chips or whatever. that seems to take the problem out of running out of a snack at a bad time.
My grandson sweep my driveway, just for the mere price of Forrest Gump. which would of cost me twice as much at any other time, but he seen it on eBay, and OFFERED to sweep my driveway if I'd buy it for him. So I did(buy it), and so did he ( sweep my drive). I was happy, and so was he. Only I was a little more happy than he was, cause the local TV channel ran a week long marathon of Forrest Gump. And my grandson watched every single minute of every show, and opened the dvd when it came and began watching it. I went to my neighborhood bowling, tobol a couple of frames, and eat me a bar of choc..ooooo..lots.
