Album Notes
On 2008's THE FOUNDATION, singer/guitarist Zac Brown leads his ensemble on a vibrant set of country-rock. While the Georgia-based performer is clearly comfortable with ballads (see his emotive cover of Ray LaMontagne's "Jolene"), he seems most at home on twangy, carefree tracks such as "Toes," "Chicken Fried," and "Sic `Em on a Chicken."

Editorial Reviews
Traditional country toe-tapper 'Mary' highlights the group's tight harmonies, and the touching 'Highway 20 Ride,' about shared custody of a child, is a stone-country smash.

Awesome CD

Created: 05/01/09
The first thing I like before I ever put the disc in was the case. I have never seen anything like it and I think it is a great marketing tool.

The CD itself has a bunch of catchy sing along songs from Toes to the smash hit Chicken Fried to one of the more bizarre songs you'll hear, Sic'em on a Chicken.

If you like country music or know someone who does, and they don't own The Foundation by the Zac Brown Band, buy it. It is worth the money.

Must have!

Created: 28/11/10
I saw the Zac Brown Band in concert as an opening band last year and they were hot for the song Chicken Fried. I was impressed by the sound of the band but not the song and not their look as I think they are channelling Box Car Willy for their wardrobe. Over the last year I have come full circle in my opinion as I have heard much more mature music from them and very mature pursuits in what they do for our troops. The Foundation is a must have as it is a new sound with old time roots. The instrumentation and harmonies are superb as are the songs that are wide ranging. As a country music fan I am embarrassed I didn't buy this CD sooner.

Zac Brown Band - Some good tracks, some not so good.

Created: 03/06/10
As with most CD's when you're trying out a new group, there will be a few surprises. I bought this CD for one specific song 'highway 20 ride'. That song has special meaning, and is very beautiful. There are one or two others on this CD that are good as well, but the remaining were too 'grass roots' for my taste, which isn't 'home grown'. With that in mind, I recommend potential buyers to listen to the complete selection before purchasing, or be happy flipping tracks to get to the ones you'd like to hear, as is the case with my 'track surfing' husband. A little nerve racking at times, but better than enduring unpleasant music, I suppose.

Enjoyed their debut album

Zac Brown has an incredible voice, and most of the songs have a Jimmy Buffett feel- carefree and fun. I think they would be great to see in concert!
This album would be great at a barbeque or party in the sunshine- complete with a slow dance to Highway 20 Ride- by far the best song on the CD.
