Movie synopsis

Documentarian Seth Gordon (THE KING OF KONG: A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS) makes his feature film directorial debut with FOUR CHRISTMASES. Kate (Reese Witherspoon) and Brad (Vince Vaughn) are a happily unmarried couple who avoid spending Christmas with their families at all costs and instead travel to exotic locales. But when they find themselves fogged in at the San Francisco airport and their flight to Fiji cancelled, they have no choice but to spend the holiday with their divorced parents and the rest of their dysfunctional relatives. From his wrestling brothers and cradle-robbing mother to her oversexed grandmother and perfect sister, the couple is forced to face their worst nightmare head-on. Kate and Brad's greatest fears are realized as their families share their most personal secrets. This film addresses broader themes of how people really know each other and the importance of connecting with family, no matter how crazy they might be. Vaughn and Witherspoon have nice chemistry as a couple that thought they had everything they wanted, improvising and playing off of each other well. Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek appear as Brad's parents, while Jon Voight and Mary Steenburgen play Kate's parents. Jon Favreau and Tim McGraw are a hoot as Brad's tormenting brothers, and Kristen Chenoweth fits the bill as Kate's sister. Parents should be aware that the film includes adult language and themes, and some comments about Santa that may upset young children., Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn pair up for this Christmas comedy about a couple who has to visit four different sets of parents as a result of divorce. Seth Gordon, director of the highly praised documentary THE KING OF KONG: A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS, makes a move into narrative territory with this holiday film.

Movie trailer and editorial reviews

"[T]he picture, briskly directed by Seth Gordon from a snappy, many-authored script, is refreshingly tart and lean, forgoing the usual schmaltz and syrup....It's an efficient and stress-free entertainment package."
New York Times - A. O. Scott (11/26/2008)

"It's four home-for-the-holidays comedies in one, and the variety-pack structure works for the movie....The quartet of house parties are sprinkled with witty actors like Jon Favreau..."
Entertainment Weekly - Owen Gleiberman (12/05/2008)

3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon -- America's Lothario and America's Sweetheart -- are an oddly apt pairing..."
Box Office - Amy Nicholson (11/26/2008)

Good Funny Holiday Movie

Created: 27/11/09
Kate and Brad (Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn) are a very happy couple who each year travel to some exotic location to spend Christmas AWAY from their families. Both parents are divorced (on both sides) and neither Kate or Brad want the embarrassment of spending the Holidays with the 4 families. When bad weather cancels their flight and they are seen on the local news at the San Francisco Airport by all their family members, they are immediately contacted and they have no way around spending time at all four locations, hence the name, Four Christmases.

Now you know the basic story. However, the rest of the story is that this movie is full of top stars who each lend their unique abilities to the movie. Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon are great together.

Rated: PG-13 - For some sexual humor and language.
Directed by: Seth Gordon
Produced by: Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum, Jonathan Glickman, Vince Vaughn, & Reese Witherspoon

Cast includes: Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen, Jon Voight, Jon Favreau, Dwight Yoakam, Tim McGraw & Kristin Chenoweth

WIth this all star cast I suggest you buy this one and enjoy it.

Cute Christmas Film~ stars galore~ worth watching once

Created: 25/11/09
PLOT: Brad & Kate unmarried and very in love~ spend every Christmas on vacation thus avoiding their CRAZY families. BUT this Christmas Fog lead to Christmas on both sides~ with silly cute results.

one word to describe this movie is CUTE~ Reese Withspoon is Kate and her live in man Brad (Vince Vaughn) are a modern young couple unmarried, no plans to have a family OR ever get married. Happily they avoid the traditional Christmas trips home by going on a Vacation and making up half tales to the family on where they are~ a FOGGED IN AIR PORT now sends them HOME for Christmas~ his and hers~ lots of great stars Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, and the list goes on~ finding they did not know each other as well as they thought and add babies and family NUTS. Kate feels maybe something is missing from their relationship, children~ but Brad makes it clear he is not changing his mind about marriage and family~ and this sends Kate on a trip back to her family for a reflection of what makes Christmas and a modern relationship. I did not laugh out loud once but did smile a few times. I GIVE IT A 7 OUT OF 10 FOR HOLIDAYS FARE LOADED WITH STARS AND A CUTE MOVIE YOU WILL WATCH ONCE~ A CHICK FLICK WRITTEN BY FOUR GUYS~ GO FIGURE~ LOL

Funny and romantic movie

Created: 12/11/10
Finally got to watch the movie Four Christmases. Love Reese Witherspoon and I think Vince Vaughn is super funny. It's a funny romantic movie. They play a couple that avoids getting together with their family during the holidays by going away on trips. Unfortunately, this particular Christmas their flight has been cancelled and are now forced to face their families and experience the holidays with them. Didn't think much of the movie when I watched the previews, but when I watched the movie I actually enjoyed it.

Four Christmases

You're going to love it or hate it. I found it to be fun with quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. Reese rocks! Didn't know there were so many great actors in this as I actually never really wanted to see this one until I got it as a gift. I really enjoyed it! I'm VERY surprised it passed for a PG rating however, there is a lot of inappropriate content that is unsuited for children under 14. Keep in mind this is not a family film, it's a "grown up" comedy that doesn't even fit the subject of Christmas really, but the laughs and actors kept this one on my top enjoyable movies list!

Well worth the money... all 7 I have purchased :-)

I got this movie on pay per view a couple months ago and absolutely fell in love with it. I am not a Vince Vaughn fan AT ALL but I am a huge Reese Witherspoon fan so I gave it a shot anyway. If you like funny/romantic movies you will really enjoy this one. I have bought several copies for multiple people with all different personalities and they ALL have enjoyed this film. Highly recommended!!! I think I’ll go watch it now after I grab a beer… long day at work. :) Enjoy the movie.
