Hours Of Info and Enjoyable Reading
Created: 23/04/11
I felt that Scott Heston did an excellent job not knowing what
his final goal was.It covers alot of information that was not known by me.I feel anytime I can learn from a book its met its goal for me.I like the cronology taking the reader from very early history to the most current data available from the
collectors stand point.I found items that I didn't know existed and has peaked a new interest in some areas of collecting.I hope Scott has a newer printing in process,as this has given me hours of enjoyment. The prices he quotes seem to need some upgrading as they are all lower than what you can purchase them for now.I collect the lures I used as a boy fishing everyday, during the summer.I don't collect the lures I didn't fish with.I started in 1953 and haven't stopped since. So some of the older lures have now interest to me,and would be of no value.I feel Scott made a good point early on in the book that collecting is like bringing back memories and the value placed on your memories is what drives you to do a little trip down memory lane.My first big bass was a 5Lb.7oz large mouth caught on an Arbogast frog colored Sputter Fuss so thats where my interest lays and thats the era of lures I collect....Dave Palmer

Great book of history. Recamended for the fisherman
Created: 02/11/09
The book desribes true fisherman testing the lures that work. Having the same experience as outlined by the subjects listed, I find that this writing is a must for any sportsman's library. Especialy for those who appriciate the pleasures of fishing and not using some fancy advertisement to promote a lure. As indicated in this book, there are great lessons to be be learned about fishing, advertisement, business, collecting, and all around information about the enjoyable sport/hobby of fishing and lures that work. The only draw back is a true chronalogical order when Fred Arbogast lures or colors were first introduced and when they were discountinued. This is in no the fualt of the writter, its just me being a very detailed person. Get your copy now and happy reading.

A fishing Fanatics Must Have

This is a very good book to have it is full of great Arbogast Lure history. I collect Ohio fishing tackle and still use every piece I own, (Fred Arbogast lures do work) and always thought some one needs to write a book about this kind of gear. This book is also full of many great pictures and ads of lure advertisments of the past. If you ever caught a fish on one of these lures, used one, or even went fishing you owe it to yourself to read this book over and over, its a great reference also.

excellent read -- most informative

I was most surprised by all of the back ground information that this book had. It is the full history of Arbogast and how he intermingled with other fishermen and lure companies. The history of the different lure manufactures and the men behind them was very interesting. The sequence of events that make a great man and his company and then the progression of time that followed were all very well laid out and easy to follow. I originally bought the book to find more information about the fishing lures. I not only got that but also the complete history of the lures. I am very happy with the book and extemely glad I got it.
