No One Can Top Freddie Mercury
Created: 06/12/06
I bought the DVD because I am a tremendous Queen fan. I saw the re-broadcast of the show some 18 years ago and remembered how good the show was. But I also remembered that some people were not too good on it. I did not expect anyone to better Freddie (though George Michael and Robert Plant were excellent), but I did expect some of the huge names to do better. Annie Lenox was painful to watch as was Axl Rose. Liza Minelli sucked as well. Elton John was as good as can be expected, and Metallica was actually pretty good.
The version of Radio GaGa was fun to watch. Only a true Queen fan can appreciate the incredible audience participation at a live Queen show. (I saw Queen with Paul Rogers and they still have it, by the was Paul was great)
Overall the DVD was very good, jus ignore most of the singers and listen to Brian, Roger, and John as well as Slash, Toni, and many more. I would like for it to have been much longer. They put 12 hours of show into a 2 hour DVD. Also, I bought it from a great source. They were fast and courteous.

Cool documentary, behind the scenes footage!

It's Queen! Of course I love it! I decided to buy it because a long time, I saw the VHS copy with the intro by Metallica, Extreme, Def Leppard, and so on. Extreme was amazing with their Queen medley. I got pretty disappointed when I saw that this 2 DVD set doesn't have that.
The cool thing is the documentary on disc two; it's like a 40-minute documentary with very interesting footage backstage on those days! Also, you can watch the rehearsals with Brian, Roger, John and each singer in a separate studio. Not all the songs have the option of the rehearsal, though. And, finally, every single insert with Freddie's classic performance with Queen and solo, that they were used to give time for the different bands to set up (on the first part on the concert NOT ON THIS 2 DVD SET!), are also there. It's pretty cool to watch these inserts.
Over all, a great purchase!

Made Me Cry...

I first saw this concert on one of those "video disc" things and was awestruck. I have since had it on VHS and now DVD and every time I watch it I CRY. As much as I dislike Axl Rose I thought putting him together with Sir Elton was some kind of wonderful and all the background on King Freddie (and to me he will always be the King of Queen) brought a tear to my eye and a knot to my throat.
The only thing I disliked about it was Seal's version of "Who Wants to Live Forever". Not my idea of how the song should be sung and Annie Lennox...well it wasn't her best work.
I ADORED Radio Gaga. I wanted to stand up and participate.
All I can say is if you don't have it...shame on you...BUY it already!

Had My Hopes Up BUT...

I should have shopped at Amazon for it. The seller had an inaccurate description which led me to believe it included the entire concert when in fact the DVD release includes only portions of the concert. The presentation of the DVD is nice, the second disc is useless, the sound and image quality are what you would expect but if you want the entire concert, particularly the legendary Queen medley by Extreme, you need to do what I did, buy a VHS copy.

It's Queen, how could it not be awesome

I'm a big Queen fan. This concert is well worth getting. I had it on VHS many years ago and the nice thing with this is that each song is a track, so getting to the song you want is convenient. The rendition of "Under Pressure" with Annie Lenox filling Mercuries role is the best track on here. Just go out and buy it.
