The extent of primary research needed to write this massive 2 volume book just boggles the mind! After collecting fur trade items for 15 years & reading everything I can get this book surprised me with far more information than I had expected. Thanks to Mr. Kent's bilingual ability he has translated many documents to English that were never translated before to the public at large. If you want to learn about just fur trade items in general or in detail, this book is for you. If you want to learn more about the everyday life at the time, this book is for you. If you need a massive resource to turn to whenever you are stumped, this book is for you. The only critisizm it that the illustrations are not of the best quality or enough of them, however it is sufficient to peak my interest in virtually every subject discussed. This book will undoubtedly become a classic as time goes on.
