Andrew Davis, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones|Theatrical release: 1993 | Rating: PG-13 (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

In this near-perfect suspense movie adapted from the popular 1960s television series that starred David Janssen, renowned vascular surgeon Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) has been falsely accused and convicted--on circumstantial evidence--of his wife's (Sela Ward) murder. While Kimble is being transported to prison, another convict stabs an inattentive guard, causing a massive wreck. Kimble escapes but is hunted by tough U.S. marshal Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones). The fugitive from injustice attempts to set the record straight: He transforms himself into a jack-of-all-trades and a man of a thousand faces in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth about his wife's murder and track down the real killer. Spectacular special effects and a pulse-pounding performance by Ford turned Andrew Davis's thrilling film into a blockbuster at the box office, leading to a sequel, U.S. MARSHALS.

Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones Shine In This Movie!

Created: 13/03/07
Based on the successful TV series, this movie tells the story of an innocent man, Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford), convicted falsely of murdering his wife. He escapes from the van taking him to prison and seeks to solve the crime by himself while being pursued relentlessly by the U S Marshall Sam Gerard assigned to the case (Tommy Lee Jones), in a Best Supporting Actor Oscar winning role.

You will love the camaraderie between the pursued and the pursuer. It is strictly a game for Sam Gerard, who proclaims "I don't care" when Dr. Kimble proclaims his innocence when they once catch up with each other.

The scene where Dr. Kimble escapes from the van is one where you will jump out of your skin. When an out-of-control train starts chasing him in chains beside the track, you know that he will make it, but you hold your breath wondering how it is going to happen. This scene must have been carefully choreographed, or there could have been some loss of life.

Another exciting scene is Kimble's exit from the hospital where he is trying to find the one-armed man who killed his wife. Gerard shoots relentlessly at a fleeing Kimble as he barely gets through glass doors that are being shut automatically in the hospital.

The movie's ending is very hokie, and the reason for the murder is not a good one. However, the movie itself is well worth the ride. I can overlook the ending and just enjoy the plot as it moves toward its ending.

If you like action that is believable, watch this movie. You will forget all your troubles for 2+ hours.

I feel I am a bit biased on this movie. The first time I saw it I thought it was fantastic. However it is a movie that loses it's luster after seeing it 10 times.
Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Kimble who's wife is mudered. The murder is pinned on him. He knows he is innocent, escapes prison and seeks out to find the real killer.
If you are looking for a weekend watch of an action film you've never seen then see this movie.

A good film, a great actor, Harrison Ford!

Created: 03/09/07
I love Hrrison Ford! He did a great job in this movie as is always expected of the great actor that he is. However, if you are going to watch this movie with the expectation of catching a glimpse from the ever-so-popular 1960's TV series you will be disappointed. The plot is completely different with many weak points (espacially the part about the doctor being betrayed by his colleague). I thought it was a botched up job just to create a new twist to the story. The film failed to convey the special appeal that Dr. Kimble seemed to enjoy in the old TV series (played by David Jansen).

All in all, a good entertaining suspence with excellent cast. The video took almost a month to arrive at my door, and I was glad when it did!

The Fugitive Review

Great movie. If you like the movie "U.S. Marshalls", you'll like this one, as they both have some similarites. Namely, the fact that Tommy Lee Jones is trying to chase down an innocent man thought to be guilty in each movie. Harrison Ford puts on a great performance, and shows again why his films have put him amongst the top 3 actors of all time (relative to total box office sales).

Nail-biting fun

Love the action and the mental challenge of the plot, which never stops. My husband rarely watches movies, let alone watching one more than once, and he asked for this for his bday. Tommy Lee Jones is very believable and intense as "the law". Harrison Ford is also very convincing in his role as widower/detective/fugitive. If you like action and suspense, this is your movie.
