    Publisher's Note
This collection of more than 50 games is not only a delightful diversion from standard riding lessons, but will actually improve a rider's performance and safety skills and create a relaxed, happy horse-and-rider unit. Illustrated instructions for games such as Red Light, Green Light; Root Beer Relay; Broom Polo; and Polocrosse reinforce specific riding skills such as starting and stopping; mounting and dismounting; balance; steering; and leading. For riders of all skill levels.

Written by two distinguished safety advocates, "Games On Horseback" is the perfect complement to traditional riding lessons. Appropriate for instructors as well as individual riders, the book emphasizes equestrian safety. Each of the book's games is designed to strengthen a specific riding skill. Organized by categories such as Group Games, Timed Games, and Mounted Drills, each game includes a box noting the skills it reinforces. Within each category, games such as Simon Says, Boots in the Bucket, Broom Polo, and Scavenger Hunt, are arranged by level of difficulty. Photographs, illustrations, and descriptions lead riders and instructors through games that meet the highest standards of safety. The goal of "Games On Horseback" is to produce a relaxed, happy, horse-and-rider unit and to enhance riders' skills in a fun, natural way.

    Great resource book!

    Created: 10/04/10
I checked out this book at out local library and decided that it was so GREAT, that I had to have it in my own library! It has beautiful color photos. The game ideas are easily explained and come with helpful diagrams. It has so many ideas for having FUN with your horse and your friends. It will be a great resource for planning future 4H saddle club activities. I like how the activities are rated for beginner, intermediate and advanced. It also covers safety tips and aides with improving riding skills. These games can be for ANY style of riders. I would recommend this book for any riding instructor or saddle club.

I purchased this book for my daughters. We were at a pony christmas party last year and they had this book. There are a lot of different games and ideas to have fun with your horses. I would definitely recommend this book for horse owners.

I ride alone most of the time and some of the stuff you can do by yourself but most of it has to be done with 3 or more people.
