Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (DVD, 2009, Dual Side; Movie Cash)

Tim Hill|Theatrical release: 2006 | Rating: PG (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

This sequel to the 2004 hit GARFIELD: THE MOVIE maintains that film's clever intermingling of live action supporting cast with a CGI-animated Garfield, that self-centered, lasagna-quaffing feline, famed of newspaper comic strips by Jim Davis. Though the title is a riff from Dickens, the story here is actually copped from Mark Twain's THE PRINCE & THE PAUPER. While tagging along to England with his lovely vet girlfriend (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Garfield's owner John Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) inadvertently brings Garfield (voiced by Bill Murray) along, where he winds up being mistaken for Prince (voiced by Tim Curry), the royal cat of a lordly estate. There's a plot afoot to steal Prince's lands and title, orchestrated by the nefarious Dargis (Billy Connolly) and it's up to Garfield to save the day, that is if he can get his face out of the lasagna long enough. Connolly brings a contagious sense of malicious fun to his role as the bad guy, and Bill Murray fans will be licking their whiskers over his droll take on Garfield's lazy anti-heroics. A roster of top British actors lends their voices to some animals on the estate, including: Bob Hoskins, Richard E. Grant, and Jane Horrocks. Fluffy and friendly overall, this is fine family fare, rated PG for some cheeky bathroom humor.

A funny entertaining Garfield Sequel!

Created: 10/10/06
Our toddler was a big fan of the original garfield movie: and though it may not have received top reviews from critics, she found it funny, entertaining and would watch it countless times!
So, when the sequel arrived in theaters, it was added to out list of must see movies; frankly we find childrens movies to be a mixed bag - either really good or really bad, with little in between, though luckily this fell at the higher end of the scale!
A clever coming together of animation in the form of Garfield - the sarcastic, obese feline; and traditional movie acting - with repeat appearances from Brekin Meyer and Jennifer love Hewitt. Billy Murray once again plays the voice of Garfield and hits it on the heat with the right balance of witt, apathy and sarcasm; and this time we have a new star in the from of Billy Connolly who plays a scheming scoundrel trying to inherit an estate left to a cat - a cat who has inadvertently swapped places with Garfield.
But first to rewind...Jennifer Love Hewitt is in England on a conference, Brekin Meyer - Jon - follows her there with the intention of proposing, and Garfield together with Odie the dog, manage to come along for the ride too...yes folks, you have to leave all common sense and sense of reality at the door with this one, do that and you will be fine!!
Garfield, never one to stay out of trouble, somehow manages to switch places with an identical cat - Prince (Tim Curry is the voice on this character), a cat who leads a life of luxury, but also having been left an estate is a target of Lord dargis who wants the property for himself!
So begins a funny adventure which, though predictable, is entertaining until the end! It can be very slap stick in places which children will love, adults may appreciate the seamless transition between cartoon and film with precise special effects! All round, some good family fun!!

GARFIELD SEQUEL FOR ADULTS AND KIDS ALIKE!!!

Created: 05/03/07
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties is an excellent family film. The adults will enjoy it as much, if not more than the kids will. The animation in this movie is excellent. The movie is about a trip to England where John, Garfield's owner and best friend is about to propose to Garfield's and Odie's vet. By chance Garfield and another "royal" kitty who happen to look alike get mixed up. I know it sounds corney, but it is very funny and if you like "Garfield" in any way shape or form you will enjoy the movie : )

Great family movie, wonderful for Garfield fans!

If you are a fan of the Garfield franchise as I am than you must get this DVD to add to your collection. While it is not quite as good as the first film, it is still a lot of fun and has the original cast returning with a good story and lots of animal characters to round out the movie. The kids will love the movie for the animals alone and the comedy will keep them giggling throughout the entire film. It is one well worth owning for fans and families alike!

GARFIELD ROCKS!

Created: 29/10/06
THis movie is more like a story of the rich and the ordinary... This movie is just as funny as the first Garfield movie. Same cool Garfield, same sleek stylish, same Garfield feeling bossy and lucky in her owner's home feeling like a king in his comfy little chair. What Garfield did not know is that in the other part of the world (Europe), there live a real royalty cat that looks just like her (Garfield) that truly live as a real king/prince with servants preparing meals and pampering her. The said royalty cat inherited the kingdom and everything when the royalty owner died. But not everyone was happy that the cat got everything, so the bad guy put the royalty cat in a basket and lost him in the english river. During those time, Garfield owner's girlfriend had to visit the kingdom in Europe for work which led to Garfields owner following her to Europe to complete a multiple times failed marriage proposal and surprise her. But with Garfield attempt to stop the marriage proposal from happening, he manage to sneak in to Europe as well. While Garfield was in Europe the butler at the kingdom noticed that the royalty cat was missing, so her search and found Garfield instead. Since Garfield and the royalty cat look very similar, the butler didnt recognize and brought Garfield to the kingdom which allowed Garfield to live like the real king with servants and meals prepared...and the stories goes on...
