Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (Sony PlayStation 2, 2001)

We purchased this game on ebay because we lost the original one while we were on vacation. The original game was purchased because my husband and I liked to play together. Now we have two boys who like to play, and this is a basic hack and slash game. It has hidden areas that are unlocked with switches and triggers. You collect crystals along the way to open new areas. The areas can be played repeatedly. You collect rune stones and the un;ock special levels. The game also includes mini games. Each player's progress or profile can be saved seperately and you can play alone or with up to three others. Its a classic game, basic but fun.

This game is my all time favorite on playstation. I am an older guy and have found myself spending hours playing this game by myself and also with friends. Even if you get all the way through which will take some time, it is always fun to go back and do it again. A memory card is a must though as you will want to save your checkpoints. Each realm is different and gives new challenges and twists. If you haven't played this one I would highly recommend it. I have played a lot of PS2 games ranging from God of War to Hot Shots Golf believe me a wide range and again this is my all time favorite. You won't be dissapointed either if you are 16 or 50-no matter!

One of my favorite games. Hours and hours of super multi-player action. Re-do levels with your fully upgraded characters for maximum destruction and hidden secrets...oh yeah and there's about 30 characters to choose from once you unlock them!

Gauntlet's hack-and-slash gameplay continues in Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. You and up to three of your friends must work as a team through eight dangerous worlds. As one of eight different characters, you'll vanquish creatures, evade traps, and search for treasure. Character-based power attacks, magic potions, new power-ups, and combination moves add to the mayhem. The game save system allows players to transfer evolving characters from their own machine to a friend's to take on the dungeon together.

As a kid, we would always get to the movie theatures early. Run around with are friends and play arcade games. WE ALWAYS played this 1. Ok maybe not this exact game, but Guantlet. 4 players at once, running around smashing stuff, cheering buddies on, or a bit of teasen when they died. Constantly shoving quarters into the machine. So when I bought this I had alot of memories. Thats why it was a 4 star game for me. Now to the kid, or new player to this game, it will get daul. Its easy to understand, you have different classes to choose from, and its a hack/slash game all the way! Mixed in with some pretty tough boses, that you have to grind some xp, to make your character stronger. I'm not sure how the kids now days would feel about this. Its kinda "lame" compared to the games out now. But if you want to have a game with hours of laying waste to anything that moves, with up to 4 friends this is the game for you.
