) Although not on the same level of draftsmenship as the Disney Studios, the backgrounds are lovely, in the style of Van Gogh. A wonderful score by Harold Arlen (composer of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"), with great vocal performances by Garland, Goulet AND Paul Frees. Although the plot appears simplistic, there are some very sophisticated moments--a charming montage where Musette, the female cat's portrait is painted by the leading artists of the Impressionist period.

) When I was a young boy, I have seen the movie "Gay Purr-Ee" so many times I just never get tired of watching it. "Gay Purr-Ee" was one the most best film pictures of the mid '60s. Actress Judy Garland who played the role as Mussette. I admire Judy Garland so much that when debuted in her first film "The Wizard of Oz", I never miss it when the film was on WCBS-TV every year until it was released on VHS Cassette and now on DVD. I enjoyed watching "Gay Purr-Ee" and I will continue watching it over and over again.

) Oh, I just love this, it's the cutest movie! I remember seeing it when i was a kid, and I didn't even know they made a DVD of it until i saw it on Ebay. This is great, and I love the songs in it. Judy Garland has a realy amazing voice. I've always thought this was a cute movie. My son loves it too. :) I guess I got it more for him than for myself anyway... It's a great movie that both kids and adults will like. And I just adore cats, i always have!

As someone who grew on the regular Chuck jones cartoons, this movie was different, but in a good way.
Jones' animation is not different from his looney-tunes funny cartoons, but the drawing style is different. The style that Jones and Co. drew the background remind mostly of artists that lived in the end of the 19th Century in Europe. One can clearly see the affect on Chuck Jones by artists as lutreck, Van-goch, Picasso etc.
Excellent film and great story!
