Days of the Blade delivers a next-generation tour of Feudal Japan - it's a truly pretty game - too bad it never lets players off the bus to explore it for themselves. For all the processing power of the PS3, Days of the Blade offers the kind of experience expected of a Genji sequel on PS2.certain aspects of the game truly shine. It's not an absolute disappointment, but when it comes to a next-gen launch title, regardless of the platform, it needs to impress - both in how it looks and how it plays.
The latter being the more important of the two. Having said that, Days of the Blade does improve on its predecessor in a number of ways. The biggest addition lies in the number of characters available. Players can choose from among four now, and thankfully they all offer something different. The main character, Yoshitsune, can dual-wield swords and attacks quickly. The second character, a tank named Benkei, swings a massive ornate club and attacks slowly. Shizuka, a lithe female warrior, twirls around her enemies and slices at them with tethered blades. The last character, the one kept secret by Sony until very recently, is Buson, the last boss from Dawn of the Samurai. That's a nice roster of fighters, especially considering their individual strengths.
The additional characters and weapons certainly help, as does the flexible combat system. The game also offers amazing vistas and epic boss fights. Regardless of how someone dresses a corpse, though, it’s still a corpse. And that’s the main problem here. Beneath the gleaming surface lies an old heart that’s just about had it. Days of the Blade gets half the formula right. Sadly, it’s the wrong half. In the end, fans of the original should take a look, but anyone looking for a true next-generation action title will need to wait.

I've read several reviews on this game, Genji: Days of The Blade. Most were above average, but really dogged the game. I downloaded the demo from the Playstation Store, and I really enjoyed it. I began to find it locally, no one had it. So, I came here to eBay. $7 later, and it arrived.
If you're a fan of God of War, Ninja Gaiden, any hack and slash style game, etc. you owe it to yourself to pick this title up. The game looks beautiful, and it is very entertaining. You'll find yourself leaning towards certain characters, but being able to change characters on the fly is a plus. Like the God of War series, Genji also has the cinematic scenes with the appropriate button mash sequences to defeat several enemies. These scenes look amazing.
With all the good comes some bad, however. The camera angles aren't adjustable, so you'll find yourself fighting the camera here and there. The on board compass does a decent enough job to help you locate your enemy. So, if you can get over the camera issues this is one great game.
I gave this an excellent rating for its value in price. I don't think you can find a better looking game for $10 and under.

I read the reviews and bought this game only because I got it on ebay brand new for 10 bucks. I wasn't expecting much because of the reviews but I really like this game. The graphics are great. One of the best looking ps3 games. They're overlooked because of the low ratings. The game play is pretty good if you're into those hack and slash games. The RPG elements make the game better too. You get to level up your characters and their weapons. One of my favorite things was the boss battles. They're pretty good. Specially the big bosses. The game difficulty can get really high and even frustrate you a little sometimes but I prefer that over a really easy game. The only negative thing I found about the game was the lack of camera control. The camera switches angles as you move but despite the lack of camera control it didn't give me any problems playing the game. So anyone who complains about that being a problem most likely sucks at games. So to wrap up my review, I liked the game. It's pretty underrated and at the price you can find it on ebay I say give it a try.

Genji days of the blade is not a bad game its just not a great game you have to take the good and the bad with this game great graphics and sound and some old out dated simple game play with bad camera angels and repetitive button combo game play. the game can be at times pretty easy and at times pretty hard and confusing. You will deff. get stuck every once and a while. The game can be pretty fun at times but some times it gets very frustrating. the storyline is ok nothing special. the game does have some technical difficulty's, the game has frozen on me a few times. the game has a good variety of 4 different characters for you to chose from such as the big barbarian type benkei who is my favorite to play as but some of his movies are a bit slow because he swings a big log around, then there's the fast paced swords man Yosh*tsune the small and agile "Sh*zuka, is armed with a sort of grappling hook blade weapon" and "And Lord Buson fights with a spear-like weapon, which he can rapidly twirl about to form a defensive shield" the graphics have great vibrant colors the game also has some annoying puzzles that are harder then they should be because of the games annoying fixed camera angels. you can also find and unlock better weapons and power ups and there's some pretty good boss battles overall genji days of the blade is not a bad game. but it defiantly has the Potential to be a lot better i would like to see sony try one more time and just get rid of the bad camera angels add more Customization and some more creative game play add a multiplayer option maybe even a online mode and take there time and not rush the game.

Genji: Dawn of the Blade was released at the lunch of the PS3, the development team was rushed and the quality of the final product suffers.
pros:
Great graphics shows off some of the PS3's muscle. There is a good bit of items/weapons to mess around with. Good environment destruction on some levels. The cutscenes are nicely done.
cons:
There is no camera control and the camera is horrible! Camera points at your
character as you get attacked by enemies outside your vision field. Most enemies respawn after you defeat them and their A.I. is terrible (attack 2 times, walk in a half circle, repeat). The voice overs and the dialogue are pretty bad. The in game map doesn't show doors. Also, the objects and environment pieces get reused often on a level. Gameplay is very repetitive.
