Movie synopsis

Jack Carter's brother is dead. And Jack (Sylvester Stallone) wants to know why. A Las Vegas mob enforcer, he carefully packs his guns and sets off for Seattle by train. At the funeral, he discovers his brother was full of alcohol when he died in a car accident. But according to his niece, Doreen (Rachael Leigh Cook), his brother didn't drink. Jack starts on a tortuous trail that leads, via gang boss Brumby (Michael Caine) and porno-loving thug Cyrus Paice (Mickey Rourke), to a Seattle computer billionaire named Jeremy Kinnear (Alan C******). Among those trying to "get Carter" is Con (John C. McGinley), another enforcer from Las Vegas.GET CARTER is the second remake of the bleak and gritty 1971 British thriller of the same title. In the original, directed by Mike Hodges (CROUPIER), Michael Caine was Carter. The first remake was George Armitage's 1972 film HIT MAN. Scriptwriter David McKenna and director Stephen T. Kay have shifted the location in GET CARTER 2000 to the Pacific Northwest. While they have made it less perverse than the original, this version is more upscale, and more jolting, with splintered jump cuts and pulsating music.

Get Carter, get the original?

This is quite a good movie, Sylvester Stallone and the rest of the cast are just great, it even has Michael Caine (the original carter). This modern adaptation doesn't quite stand up to the original but still has the same flare non-the-less. The only problem I could see with this movie is some of the modern film techniques that are used, a lot of them just seem out of place, but that's where the badness of this film ends. So buy or rent? I'm actually not quite sure on this one, but i bought it, though I'm a big Stallone fan so it was a must buy for me. 4/5, good semi-action movie.

Good movie but jumps around a bit too much. Kind of seems like a music video gone wrong. Stallone is great and menacing, but I seemed to get bored with the movie. Thumbs up to Michael Caine!

Restraint version of orginal - but still pretty good

pretty good and i think well acted by S. Stalone. I love the speech he gives the girl towards the end, very good for young people her age.

this is a PG version of the original movie, which is R if not X. Get Both versions. The "Get Carter" (1971) with M Caine is incredible and ground breaking ... even by today's standards ... i didn't think M. Caine had the balls to act like this. that's why S. Stalone redid this movie - this is M. Caine acting like a mouthy Rambo in the underworld mode.

It is has a good story line and is one of Sylvester Stallone's better movies outside the Rocky series.
