Movie trailer and editorial reviews

3 stars out of 5 -- "Brand is seductive to watch as he vamps his way across the various stages here, both public and private, working the hair-tossing insouciant artist thing to excellent effect."
Los Angeles Times - Betsy Sharkey (06/04/2010)

"GET HIM TO THE GREEK manages to sustain its hepped-up, manic energy for surprisingly long stretches....Byrne, in addition to being a good sport, has marvelous comic timing..."
Movieline - Stephanie Zacharek (06/02/2010)

4 stars out of 5 -- "Both Brand and Hill communicate as much with their facial expressions and bodies as they do with words....Brand shows flashes of genuine dramatic depth."

A.V. Club - Scott Tobias (06/03/2010)

3 stars out of 4 -- "The movie is funny in the way of THE HANGOVER about what trouble lads can get into when their senses are whirling."
Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert (06/16/2010)

"It has a rambly, realistic tone, with one orgiastic mishap spilling into the next, and that tone keeps much of the action popping with surprise." -- Grade: B
Entertainment Weekly - Owen Gleiberman (06/10/2010)

3 stars out of 4 -- "Brand's legit rock vocals make Snow's songs about venereal disease and bangers and mash actually kind of awesome."

3 stars out of 5 -- "Brand displays a winning ability to seem completely real, and he's at his funniest whenever Snow is being horrendously pretentious or incandescent with mock rage. Hill, meanwhile, is the perfect foil..."

Get Him to the Greek (DVD, 2010, Rated/Unrated)

If you're easily offended by raunchy humor or satire is not your cup of tea, then this probably is not the ideal movie choice for you. I thought it was funny and entertaining from the beginning all the way to the end of the credits.

I loved the ridiculous songs and lyrics, and Russell Brand did an excellent job delivering them. To me this was a sort of 21st century take on the "This is Spinal Tap" type scenario minus the spoof documentary treatment (which I also love). If you've been in a rock band, spent some time around one or were a die hard follower - especially during the '80s to mid '90s - I think you might enjoy this even more.

I've read some reviews that mentioned a weakness in the "serious" moments in the film, but that's lost on me because I didn't see a serious scene in the entire film. And every time there was even a hint of a "warm and fuzzy moment" it paid off with another dose of humor. Drug abuse, outrageous parties, destructiveness and/or total self-indulgence has been the downfall of many entertainers and - much like the film "Walk Hard" - this an over-the-top satire of that unfortunate fact.

This is definitely going in my comedy collection.

Oh, I like this film. Hilarious film this is of the Apatow group and funnier every time I watch it. However, it has its sad moments also, since the characters have problems...those occasional deep, underlying problems which lead to the development of other problems, one after the other after the other. The momentum of this story is driven by the internal, externally demonstrated by whizzing from one airport or bar or apartment to another in the tumultuous world of the tormented rock-god until we all finally make it to the Greek Theatre. (notably the words Greek and god have been seen together elsewhere, just not here) And you really DO want to hear this guy sing! It is just that we have to ride the big roller coaster of love and hate to get there. He is good. Great even. And you feel whatever is going on with him, because you get his history. All the actors, especially Jonah, do an amazing job with their roles. Russell Brand as the rock star guy, in spite of his distracting addictions and other (many) life threatening situations, manages to get on-stage at the end and sing some exciting and/or heartfelt tunes. There are others "peppered" throughout the movie in the soundtrack....which I also now own because I LIKE it thank-you very much. The songs saved for the stage are some of the best in the history of all mankind.(Bit of an exaggeration there.) AS for Russell, his star has truly risen in the entertainment world and in the world in general. From being a comedian, Russell has certainly morphed into a full-blown actor (please don't pop anytime soon) and has the vocal talent to be a real rock star if he so chooses to be one but alas he is just playing pretend. Not for children!!

One of the funniest movies I've seen. I could not stop laughing. Russell Brand and Jonah Hill make a great pair. I was also pleasantly surprised at how entertaining P. Diddy was also. Seriously, do not miss this movie. It is one of a kind.
