The movie experience

The Getaway, A game that will take you on an adventure through the streets of london with the police right at your heels. Mark Hammond (you) has been accused of murdering his wife and is now a wanted criminal. However, the people who killed your wife have taken your son. Now you must get him back and take revenge on your wifes killers. This game for me was something else. I like it because it's not GTA at all. While controls are a bit rigid and hard to grasp, the game offers a rewarding experience. Driving around, you feel the importance of obeying the rules to stay out of trouble. Though thats not to say you can't rip it up in your favorite SAAB, BMW, or Honda. With the presentation of real cars, you also get a realistic driving feel. Cars crash and burn very easily and even minor fender benders can effect overall performance and handling. As for being wanted, your ability to blend in will be compromised as the game continues on. more and more people will recognize you and call the police, Thus increasing the challenge. The difficulty in this game is excellent. Very challenging game to say the least. I must have spent days on one part of the stoy trying not to die. Upon completing the story of Mark Hammond, you get to play as Frank Carter. He is sort of like a cop who has a personal agenda. The sound effects in this game are up to par for the times along with the visuals. Overall, i really enjoyed this game. I would rate it 8 OUT OF 10.

i gave this game such a high rating due to the fact that its suspenseful. most games can get boring after a while but this is one of the very few games that didnt make me turn it off after the first few minutes of playing it. its challenging which makes it perfect for the people who love challenges. the only negative areas i have with this game would probably be how you cant skip the intro at the beginning of the game which does kinda take a while. besides that, the graphics are good and for the most part its realistic. overall, i highly recommend it to anyone who doesnt mind mature rated games. :)

This game is a great break from the Grand Theft auto series. Based in London this game is a blast. Not only are the graphics good the Gameplay is good too. This game is a blast driving thru the city on the oppisite side is fun. The action sequences are good. This has a very High replay value and is worth the investment of a few dollars.

The Getaway PS2

Created: 14/01/09
The Getaway for PS2 is an "ok" game. The graphics are decent, but the game is a bit ridiculous in the beggining, the controls are a bit difficult and the driving isn't realistic.

The GTA of London

Created: 08/07/06
I would've given it 5 but GTA was already working on Vice City when this came out so they weren't the first and definitely won't be the last of this genre of game. The game itself is just about perfect, I'm not sure why the reviews weren't all that great for it. The physics of the cars make far more sense than driving in the GTA games. (For example: when a tire goes flat the car slows and veers to that side while driving, head-on collisions make the car slow and eventually catch fire after 1 too many collisions, the police have far superior AI than those in GTA--when holding a hostage they automatically put their hands up to try and get you to work with them don't turn your back to them though or you'll either get pistol whipped or shot since they have a clean shot of your backside, there are many other examples too... just play to find out for yourself.) Basically, compared to GTA (3 or Vice City or even San Andreas) The Getaway beats them all hands down. My advice if you currently own one or all of the GTA series: trade them in for The Getaway, you won't be dissappointed.
