The soundtrack for the 1984 blockbuster comedy Ghostbusters, which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as a New York-based team of spook exterminators, follows the most common soundtrack formula for summer blockbuster hits: throw on a bunch of pop songs that were heard in the movie only for a few seconds, combine them with a couple of excerpts from the original score, and -- voila! -- you have a soundtrack album. The highlights here are two tracks from Elmer Bernstein's score, Mick Smiley's "Magic," which played a major role in the film, and the witty Ray Parker, Jr. theme song, "Ghostbusters," which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Song. ~ Evan Cater

Best Soundtrack for the Best Movie

) If you are a fan of the movie "Ghostbusters," you will love this soundtrack. It has a very 80's sound to it, and it contains such classic artists as Ray Parker, Jr. ("Ghostbusters"), Alessi ("Savin' the Day), and the Bus Boys ("Cleanin' Up The Town). It's a fun listen, and I highly recommend it to any ghostheads out there.

A lot of the time you get an awesome movie with a crappy soundtrack. This is not one of them. A perfect piece of the 80s catchy beat and memorable theme captured on this album. Even after 25 years, the theme holds true, and is one of my favorite themes of all time. It didn't hurt that it was also used as theme for the cartoon series.

-3 great tracks to play during Halloween
Why you should not buy this CD?
-there's a re-release with 12 tracks
-2 of the 10 tracks were not featured in the movie
If you are a god or have a girlfriend who sleeps 4 feet above her covers, then you probably won't need this album. For the rest of us, it's one of the best ways to capture the 80s besides using a ghost trap. So use up that petty cash and feast on this classic piece of nostalgia and pop culture.

Ghostbusters - Classic 80's soundtrack.

) It does not get any better than this. The most catchy film main theme ever, some brilliantly poppy 80's synth tracks, the Thompson Twins and and association with a totally excellent film!! For once in a soundtrack all the music actually enhanced the film and listening to it conjures up many great memories of the movie. If you liked the film, this is an essential purchase and a great way to re-live a small part of the great 80's!!
