Gigi - The Greatest Musical Ever Made !
Created: 03/04/07
Directed by Vincent Minelli, this film stars Leslie Caron as the encourageable GIGI (from the original novel "Colette"). Stars Louis Jourdan, Hermione Gingold and the great Maurice Chevalier. The backdrop is Maxim's. A young starlet also has a role in the film by the name of Eva Gabor. Costumes are amazing. Music and Lyrics by the amazing team of Lerner & Lowe. Only 2 other musicals are on par with "Gigi," and they are "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Wizard of Oz." "Gigi" won 9 Academy Awards in 1958, including "Best Picture."

Fantastic Film

If you like "My Fair Lady" and "The Sound of Music," you will love "Gigi." It's a fantastic film with great music set in 1900 Paris. It's a sweet story about a young man named Gaston, and how his platonic friendship with a girl named Gigi turns into love.
Louis Jourdon is a exquisite actor, and together with the rest of the cast, including Leslie Caron and Maurice Chevalier, "Gigi" is simply beautiful.

Gigi (2000 DVD)

To me, everything about this movie is stunningly beautiful! I never cease to be touched by this sweet, romantic, visually appealing masterpiece. It is as if early 20th century french impressionist paintings come to life, accompanied by wonderfully memorable songs. I don't think it could have been cast any better. It's not surprising that it won 9 academy awards. It probably will always be at the top of my favorites list for classic movie musicals. A film the entire family can enjoy.

Gigi (2000, DVD)

Not only was Gigi the best film of the year in 1958 with 9 Oscars, it remains one of our favorites today. The setting of Paris is beautiful and the songs timeless. Our other DVD of Gigi got scratched which prompted me to buy another. When ever we want to see an uplifting musical, Gigi is my wife's first choice. A wonderful movie that most will enjoy.

This is a classic. So many great songs and wonderful actors, not to mention best pictyre of 1958. I bought it to replace the VHS version I already had. Great movie to brighten your spirits. Great scenes of Paris, and maurice Chevalier, there just aren't actors of the chrisma any more
