Gilmore Girls: The Complete Sixth Season (DVD, 2006, 6-Disc Set)

Alexis Bledel, Keiko Agena|Theatrical release: 2005 | Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

This award-winning WB series is an intelligent, heartfelt drama about a mother and daughter navigating their turbulent world together, as both best friends and family members. Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham, BAD SANTA) is a young, attractive single mom living in idyllic Stars Hollow, Connecticut, and her high-school daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel, SIN CITY), is her closest confidant; the two share an independent spirit, a taste for literature, and gorgeous blue eyes. Lorelai had made a break with her conservative, old-money parents, Emily (Kelly Bishop, DIRTY DANCING) and Richard (Edward Herrmann, THE AVIATOR), when at a very young age she decided to keep her baby when she became unexpectedly pregnant. Since then she has been forced to turn to them for financial help with raising Rory, and a tenuous peace has been restored. Mother and daughter are essentially growing up together, supporting each other through relationship difficulties, college worries, and life in general. This release includes every episode from the sixth season of the show.

Gilmore Girls: The Complete Sixth Season (2006, DVD)

Created: 12/07/06
I have been a fan of the 'Gilmore Girls' since the second episode of the series (I never saw the pilot until the DVD release), and ever since that episode I had been hooked into this wonderful, magical, comedic, and heartfilled world with these characters.

Season six starts off on a much different note, taking the show in a direction that it has never been: What would things be like if Lorelai and Rory where no longer friends, and never spoke? After the rift between mother and daughter at the end of the fifth season, Rory dropped out of Yale and moved in with her Grandparents, aliennating her mother, who was eccentially at a loss for words on the entire subject.

Trying to make up for each other's loss Rory starts to go down a path of wallowing and denial as her relationship with Logan gets more and more serious. Lorelai on the otherhand has a wedding to plan and a new dog to take care off.

Season Six while not as good of an overall quality as season five, is still a very strong and entertaining as ever, and for long time fans of the show there are more than a few surprises including the return of two old cast members, A very special wedding (which is probably the best episode of the series thus far), and a bittersweat goodbye to the series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino who's final episode as an Executive Producer will the finale, fitting titled: "Partings"

Season Six includes the following episodes:
New and Improved Lorelai
Fight Face
The UnGraduate
Always a Godmother, Never a God
We've Got Magic to Do
Welcome to the Doll House
Twenty-One is the Loneliest Number
Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out
The Prodigal Daughter Returns
He's Slippin' `Em Bread... Dig?
The Perfect Dress
Just Like Gwen and Gavin
Friday Night's Alright For Fighting
You've Been Gilmored
A Vineyard Valentine
Bridesmaid Revisited
I'm OK, You're OK
The Real Paul Anka
I Get A Sidekick Out of You
Super Cool Party People
Driving Miss Gilmore
Partings

Season six, while finally showing its age is a perfect example why this is one of the best TV series on Television.

Gilrmore Girls - The Complete 6th Season

Created: 20/09/06
My wife initially got me interested in this series. The dialogue the characters is priceless and of course that is not lost on this most recent season.

The other part of the series that I find facinating is the character development. I prefer watching whole series on DVD once they are released and it is funny to think back just 6 years ago and see how much the characters have changes.

Episodes:

01. New and Improved Lorelai
02. Fight Face
03.The UnGraduate
04. Always a Godmother, Never a God
05. We've Got Magic to Do
06. Welcome to the Doll House
07. Twenty-One is the Loneliest Number
08. Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out
09. The Prodigal Daughter Returns
10. He's Slippin' `Em Bread... Dig?
11. The Perfect Dress
12. Just Like Gwen and Gavin
13. Friday Night's Alright For Fighting
14. You've Been Gilmored
15. A Vineyard Valentine
16. Bridesmaid Revisited
17. I'm OK, You're OK
18. The Real Paul Anka
19. I Get A Sidekick Out of You
20. Super Cool Party People
21. Driving Miss Gilmore
22. Partings

Can it be the Gilmore Girls if the Gilmore girls aren't together? At the end of Season 5, Rory dropped out of Yale and moved into Emily and Richard's poolhouse -- decisions that broke Lorelai's heart. That's handy, because one half of that heart can be deliriously happy with the big new step in her love affair with Luke. Meanwhile, the other half grieves, and it seems everyone in town wants mother and daughter to reunite. But it may take an unexpected out-of-towner to make it happen. Of course, there's much more: Lane gets a surprise that leaves her reeling with joy. Luke gets a surprise that may send the Luke-and-Lorelai relationship reeling. What's no surprise is the snappy, wish-I'd-said-that Gilmore dialogue, knowing humor and insightful storytelling fans adore. Season 6 starts now!

Gilmore Girl Geek!

Created: 18/01/11
I love Gilmore Girls. I'm a complete Gilmore Girl geek. This season is great and I love every minute of it. I love to watch them over and over and so I decided to buy them. Season 7 is one of my favorite seasons of all. I love Rory and Logan's and Lorelai and Luke's relationships. Both couples are a match made in heaven. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll feel as if you're in the family. You attach yourselves to it and become addicted (as I). Watch (and buy) and you won't regret!!

Gilmore Girls- The 6th Season

Created: 04/07/07
I had to have the 6th season to complete my collection that is
available for sale, so far. Love "The Gilmore Girls" TV show and sorry to see it go. This is the last season by the original creators & producers, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, Gavin Polone, etc. Shame they stopped and didn't continue for another season. Anyway, I love their snappy dialoge and how the characters interacted with each other. The 6th season still relayed the great mother and daughter relationship even though their relationship was rocky the 6th season. Was glad that Lorelai and Luke finally got together. Luke's daughter making an appearence made life really interesting for Luke and Lorelai. Was glad that Lane got married, that was cool. All and all the 6th season was as good as the other 5 seasons.

GILMORE GIRLS: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON

Created: 03/01/10
PURCHASED FOR MY 14 YR OLD GIRL AND MYSELF. WE ENJOY WATCHING THESE SHOWS TOGETHER. GREAT WAY FOR MOM AND DAUGHTER TO DISCUSS REAL LIFE ISSUES AND LET HER KNOW MY EXPECTATIONS REGARDING HER GROWING OLDER AND MAKING LIFE CHANGING DECISIONS (ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO BOYS AND SEX AND COMMITMENT AND MARRIAGE!)

THESE SHOWS DO NOT REPRESENT MY VALUES FOR HER; HOWEVER, IT GIVES US A REALITY OF HOW OTHERS VIEW THESE ISSUES AND HOW MANY DECISIONS MADE CAN TURN OUT TO BE HURTFUL AND WRONG.

THIS SEASON IS WITTY AND FUNNY AND ENJOYABLE.
