Movie synopsis

The trials of parenthood are at the forefront of this murky horror effort that recalls 1970s child-possession hits like AUDREY ROSE ('77) and The EXORCIST ('73). Inner-city school teacher Paul (Greg Kinnear) and his wife Jessica (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) are distraught after losing their eight-year-old son David (Cameron Bright) in an accident. At the funeral, Jessica's old science professor Dr. Wells (Robert Deniro) offers them a chance to rebuild their lives: a mansion in the country near his DNA clinic, a private school teaching job for Paul, and an exact clone of their dead son. Sworn to secrecy and facing all sorts of moral issues, the grief-stricken couple accepts Wells' offer. All goes well until the new David passes the age he previously died, then comes ghostly visions of burning children, and premonitions of murder. A creepily unobtrusive score and the film's drab look help maintain a welcome low-key, character-driven mood here, with the result that GODSEND works both as a standard horror film and a darkly psychological meditation on the uncertainty, misgivings, and sheer terror involved with child rearing. Deniro is great, as usual, and the gorgeous Romijn-Stamos proves herself adept in an unglamorous, tensely dramatic change-of-pace role as the split-apart mother.

WOW!!! YOU NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE! IT IS HORRIFYINGLY PLAUSIBLE AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES THE MOVIE SO THRILLING TO WATCH. SCARY HAPPENINGS AWAIT THE PARENT'S OF THEIR CLONED BOY WHEN HE REACHES THE ORIGINAL AGE OF DEATH. I WOULD PUT THIS MOVIE AT THE TOPS OF MY FAVORITES AND YOU WILL TOO! GREG KINNEAR, ROBERT DENIRO, REBECCA ROMIJN-STAMOS ALL FIGURE IN THIS FANTASTIC, FRIGHTENINGLY-POSSIBLE SCHEME OF EVENTS.

Wow it makes you think!

I gave this a rating of good instead of great because I don't see it being something a large group of people would call an all time favorite. But that does not mean it isn't a good movie.

This movie is scarey because of the odds of it actually happening in real life. It makes you think about cloning and what could happen, both good and bad, if it did actually happen.

It does keep you pulled in the entire movie wanting to know what will happen next! And the boys performance is stunning. I would say buy it, it is a good scrary that isn't something everyone has seen. This is good becuase of those times someone comes over and has seen everything, it gives you options. And you might watch it a few times yourself!

As far as CHILDREN go, I don't know that I would let small children watch it (no nudity) but it does have some violence and strong lauguage.

I bought the dvd because it was a Robert DeNiro movie, and as always it was very good. The supporting cast were good also. This one was a "sleeper."
