The Golden Girls - The Complete Fifth Season (DVD, 2006, 3-Disc Set)

I have been a fan of The Golden Girls even since the very first show back in the 1980's. When they decided to stop production, I was very disappointed and tried to catch the re-runs whenever I could but often times television networks change their schedule of shows so it was difficult to keep track of these four funny women. I taped some of the shows on video tapes and that worked for awhile but the quality wasn't good. It was about this time that VCR machines were getting replaced with DVD machines. Which made my tapes useless. Then much to my surprise and delight, the first season of The Golden Girls was released on DVD. I was THRILLED and bought it the first week it was out. And then the second, third, and fourth seasons followed; I got all of them and watched these wonderful, funny women get themselves in and out of all kinds of silly situations for hours on end.
The fifth and sixth seasons seemed to take much longer to get released so when I heard that they too had been released, I ran to the store to buy them. After going to three or four stores and not being able to get them because they were already sold out or because the store hadn't ordered them, I decided that I would try the best store on the planet, Ebay of course, and sure enough, there they were the fifth and sixth seasons of my all-time favorite show, The Golden Girls. I wasted no time in buying them. Within a few days they were at my door, even the one from Hong Kong! And I have been enjoying them ever since. It was so easy and fast to find them and pay for them (prices were very reasonable) and no crabby sales people to deal with or long lines! I didn't even need to get out of my robe. What more could someone want out of a shopping experience? Now I'm waiting for the seventh and eighth seasons to be released. But this time I am going directly to Ebay. No more of this running around to several different stores just to hear" we are sold out, come back in six weeks",business for me. I have learned my lesson. I will always look on Ebay first; it saves time, gas, money and I always find what I want. So thank you Ebay, I will be coming back.

Golden Girls season 5 is amazing. It contains 26 episodes including the wondefully done Sick and Tired as well as The President's Coming two parts! The bonus feastures include exclusive insights and commentaries with Bea,Rue, & Betty. (At the time Estelle, was very ill and could not participate.) It's a must have for any fan, and even a great way for getting someone interested in the show with these thoughtful and HILARIOUS episodes.

I am on my last dvd for this set. I have bought seasons 6 and 7 and I will have the complete set. Probably because I can now relate in age, it is even greater going through these seasons with them. I just saw that Estelle Getty died last week. That just leaves the other three. I saw Betty White on Bold and Beautiful and I have seen Rue but I understand that Bea Arthur only does Broadway now.

I have seasons 1-4 & 7. I first saw the Golden Girls on Hallmark channel and when we got off cable, I started buying the seasons. There's NO show quiet like this one! Rose with her St. Olaf stories, Blanche with her love for men, Dorothy with her smartness & Sophia with her wittiness! I HIGHLY recommend this season!!!!

This is another great season of the Golden girls. A lot of stuff happens this season. They have a lot of visitors. This season is full of humor, Jealousy, and sexiness. Blanches daughter gets artificially inseminated. Rose’s new professor boyfriend makes her feel stupid. Dorothy decides to become a standup comic. Blanch discovers her late husband was unfaithful and has an illegitimate child. There are 26 episodes total and a run time of 616 minutes (10 hours 16 minutes). Young or old, you won’t be disappointed in this DVD set.
