Among the best Bond entries
Created: 26/07/10
If you're a fan of James Bond, you probably already know that this is one of the best of the Bond films. Connery is the benchmark for Bond. Gert Froebe playing Goldfinger is among the best villains, and Harold Sakata as Oddjob is a fantastic henchman. Of course, it's an over-the-top thriller -- a bit preposterous but a lot of fun.
The edition I bought was the Special 007 Edition, which has a widescreen format enhanced to look good on HD TV (but is not in an HD format). It has a gallery of images, TV and theatre trailers, audio commentary from the director, cast and crew, and other special features. It is also nicely packaged with an 8-page brochure. If you're looking to own a copy of this film, check carefully among the various DVD's available to determine what extra features you want.

Goldfinger!

To me this is THE James Bond film!
Pussy Galore!?! Are you kidding!?! The single most famous name in film history!
Sean Connery is outstanding! He IS James Bond! Ask any woman who is James Bond and they will tell you Sean Connery! My wife creams her jeans every time she sees him in these films. And she's 57!
I have seven(7) )of these films and they're all Sean Connery! The other guys just don't measure up.
This guy was COOL! SMOOTH! and deadly!
This film was the best. Not just Bond but Goldfinger, Oddjob, Jill Masterson (Shirley Eaton - would you?), Tilly Masterson and on and on! The scenery throughout is great - Switzerland, Kentucky, Miami!
I suppose someone will disagree with me here but if they do they don't know anything about film.
The other guys films were too dependant on special effects and too many gadgets.
If you can seriously tell me Roger Moore, Geaorge Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are cooler and smoother and more believable than Mr. Connery than I can recommend a good mental hospital for you to reside in!

The ultimate James Bond in the ultimate Bond movie
Created: 08/03/07
If you can see only one of the two-dozen-or-so James Bond movies, this would have to be the one. (If you can see two, catch "Diamonds are Forever" too.)
"Goldfinger" features 007 Sean Connery at his suave best, chasing a memorable villain (with the best evil henchman ever) in the original gadget-laden spy car, while never even wrinkling the tuxedo under his wetsuit. Although released in 1964, it seems less dated (not to mention corny) as many of Roger Moore's 1970s Bod flicks. Certainly not as gritty or realistic as the most recent Bond, but the movie was made to be entertaining, not educational, and it serves up the fun generously.
One thing about this movie that (as a pilot) drives me nuts: this is where everyone got the idea that you'll get sucked out like playdough if there's a little hole in the side of a plane. This theme has been endlessly repeated ever since Auric Goldfinger met his demise; once Hollywood gets an image like that in its writers' heads, a little thing like reality isn't going to stand in the way.

Goldfinger

By far the best Bond film of them all. Its all been said up to this point, but many forget, or do not know, that Bond, for the 2nd time, displays the classic Rolex Explorer watch with the now famous NATO strap, that commands huge bucks if you can find one. (you can...) A model 5513 Rolex will fit the bill quite nicely, and can be had for as little as 5k, and the strap can be bought here on eBay for as little as 10 bucks. Rolex was with Bond until Brosnan openly touted Omega watches, both quartz and automatic, and that association continues today with the latest actor as well, with the Planet Ocean line by Omega.
Nobody can top the Rolex worn by Connery however, a classic timeless look that is still offered new today via the Submariner and Explorer line. I just bought one, and I always think of Bond when looking at it, as I wear the exact strap he did in Goldfinger. Some things ARE timeless......

One of the best early Bond movies.

I own the box set of James Bond movies and one day my Goldfinger DVD cracked while being removed from the case. You must be very careful when removing them because the middle 'tab' that holds the DVD in the case holds it very tight. So, a quick check on eBay and I was able to replace my missing Bond.
This movie is great because the bad guy is wonderful, the Aston Martin is introduced and Sean is so young and at the top of his game.
