GoPro HD HERO2: Outdoor Edition Camcorder - Silver

I bought this camera for general outdoor filming and it's been fantastic overall. I've only had this camera for a few weeks but I'm already in love with it.

Out of the box, this camera is really easy to use and get started with right away...but I highly recommend reading the instructions first as they contain a lot of important information and also really helpful tips that will make your usage experience even better.

The battery life is about what you'd expect based on the size of the camera...it lasts for about 2 hours of pure filming, plus whatever charge is needed to navigate through the menus and settings when you're setting up to shoot. I strongly recommend buying a secondary battery if you plan on taking your GoPro on lengthy excursions where you'll be doing a lot of continuous filming. I also bought a portable USB charger that I can use to charge a dead battery while I keep shooting with the backup battery...it's extremely handy to have!

I also recommend getting at the very least a 16GB SDHC memory card (the more memory, the better) as well as an additional card for storage backup...for my very first video I shot for about 10 minutes at 960p in 48fps and the video filesize was approximately 1GB. I think a 32GB SDHC card with a 16GB as a backup would be the ideal setup.

Video quality from this camera is superb. As you've no doubt seen in demo videos, it shoots in full HD and you can choose to have the wide-angle capture or not if you don't want the fisheye effect around the edges. I recommend also buying a polarizing filter to put inside the plastic housing, as it immensely cuts down on glare and harsh brights.

If you plan on using this camera to record anything that needs sound (or good sound quality), I highly recommend buying an external microphone (which you can pickup for fairly cheap for decent quality) as the built-in microphone is quite poor (which is understandable because of the housing around it).

The camera has awesome features in addition to the great video quality like time lapse and burst photo...I have not tried time lapse mode myself yet but I am very excited to give it a try. The burst photo mode is incredibly useful to capture that one perfect moment during something that is happening very quickly or is fast action.

What really makes this camera great is all the various mounts and accessories that you can buy for it...you can literally mount it anywhere. Just be careful about any non-official GoPro gear - make sure to lookup reviews first, as many of the third-party accessories and add-ons are not built with the same high quality.

Just be sure to take really good care of the outer plastic housing...yes, it is waterproof (to a certain extent) and is designed to protect the camera itself from damage, but any scratches or marks on the housing near the part that covers the lens will certainly be visible in your videos.

Some people recommend using Rain-X on the outer housing to prevent water droplets with use in the water, but I've found this only makes the water beads more clear in the video...I recommend simply licking the outside plastic that covers the lens, as this will provide a film to help prevent droplets forming.

Since the HD Hero 2 came out recently, if you can find it brand new for sale for under $350, it's a good deal. I was lucky and managed to find a great deal on mine but it's still well worth the full retail price if you see yourself using it a lot.

I used this product in the production of a movie, to gain access to tight shots that were almost impossible to get with larger cameras. Still giving the same or better video quality for its size, this amazing little camera even created 3D effects and video for a portion of my movies. Very creative aspect of the camera. Although very small and cast have a hard time taking me serious with such small cameras, they were easily turned around when the video was shown to them in High Definition and 3D.

GoPro Hero2 is the best camera in life!!! I race in go karts and i used it very much. The resolution is more than excellent, its wonderful. You can mount it on a helmet very easy and to different surfaces. The best thing of all, is the waterproof housing, you can use it until 30 mts of deep.

Well, I have nothing but good things to say about this camera. It has met every one of my expectations! I wanted something that record at high speed, for slow motion action shots and 1080p for my Cycling Excursions. This camera has all the modes that I could ever want in such a low budget package. I really like how you can buy all sorts of mounting and BacPac attachments. So far, I've bought the LCD BacPac and it works great. I ended up buying a GoPro Bicycle handlebar mount. This is the only thing that I found lacking. The quality of the video, using this mount, is mediocre at best. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a K-Edge handlebar mount instead. It is significantly more expensive, but if you want to get the best picture quality out of this camera, this is the way to go! One of the hardest parts with this camera is finding the right Video Rendering software to go with it. I ended up buying Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0. I've tried many other programs, but this one seems to work the best and has the least conflicts and crashes.

I was looking rugged and well constructed product that will perform in any condition, bit on the bulky side, chip matrix have been outdated, needs a new face lift, its simple but you get what you pay for

better picture quality compare to previous model, lots of accessories , WiFi remote is comping soon, can wait
