Album NotesPersonnel: Clipse (rap vocals).Audio Remixer: Basement Jaxx.In a manner much like the famous NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC compilation series, the GOT HITS collection gathers together a phalanx of chart-topping tunes, dipping into a number of different stylistic camps along the way. The major difference is that the NOW series runs chronologically and each disc covers a specific period of time. In contrast, GOT HITS is less picky about the calendar and more concerned with compiling an album's worth of surefire pop hits. The predominant flavor here is an amalgam of dance, R&B, and pure pop, as best represented by the likes of Kylie Minogue (the hypnotic "Can't Get You out of My Head") and Justin Timberlake (a funky Basement Jaxx mix of "Like I Love You"), which lead off the disc. Before long, we're into other areas, though, careening into the Creed-goes-pop sounds of the Calling ("Wherever You Will Go"), the sparkling Britpop of Coldplay (the ubiquitous "Yellow"), and the melodic Latin balladry of A.B. Quintanilla III ("Don't Wanna Try"). There's even a quick dip back into an earlier era via the two bonus tracks that close things out--Paula Abdul's percolating "Straight Up" and a very young Kylie doing "The Loco-Motion."
