Episodes from Liberty City packs a little extra.

Grand theft auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City has two games within it on one disc, it's stand alone and does not require the original Grand theft auto to play. For forty bucks it's just about worth the purchase. Note that if anything, don't buy just one of the episodes over the PSN, you must have both episodes to get the experience because one of the games on their own doesn't justify the fun.
The story line's are fairly short compared to other Grand theft auto games, on both episodes the amount of missions range up to the mid twenty's. The reason for it's low score, each story is told from a different character's perspective during the events of the original Grand theft auto game.
In The Lost and Damned, experience Liberty City as Johnny, a veteran member of The Lost, a notorious biker gang. Johnny finds himself in the middle of a vicious turf war with rival gangs for control of a city torn apart by violence and corruption. Can the brotherhood survive?
The Lost and Damned features similar game play to Grand Theft Auto IV. Additions to the game include new weapons, such as a grenade launcher, Automatic Pistol, half of a pool cue and pipe bombs, as well as sawn-off and automatic shotguns and new vehicles, such as Johnny's custom-made motorcycle. However, his way of handling vehicles is less proficient than the way he handles any motorcycle. You are able to telephone various members of the Lost to provide assistance. Terry, for instance, will drive to a location near to Johnny and sell him weapons and armor, while Clay can deliver a bike of the player's choice to a nearby area. Another addition to The Lost and Damned is gang wars. Once the player has completed a certain amount of them, weapons spawn in either the clubhouse and/or safe house depending on how far the player has progressed in the story, and every subsequent 10 gang wars up to 50, a new weapon will spawn, there are also biker races. The city itself is pretty much the same, little minor and unnoticeable details are within and that's it. There are about five trophy's to obtain and somewhere around forty pigeons.
The Ballad of Gay Tony follows the exploits of a new protagonist, Luis Fernando Lopez, an associate of a Dominican street gang and the personal bodyguard of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince. The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz and grime. Experience the story of Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince. In my opinion this game is the best out of the two, Each mission give off a good old crazy and wacky vibe of last generation of Grand theft auto games. Like base jumping onto an enemies building, riding on the top of a train, controlling a buzzard (military helicopter) to destruct anything in your path. Guns are similar to The lost and damned but at the same time there are little bit of new ones that are intense like sticky bombs, M60's, P90's and more! Once again there are ten trophy's to work for and extra's like pigeon tracking, fight clubs (become the champ) base jumping (pretty fun to do and challenging) and drug wars (you and your friends steal H from others to improve your business, up to fifty drug wars.)

Rockstar games definetely know how to make good games and unique.
these two are a great example, having the option to either play the ballad of gay tony or the lost and damned both of them are awesome stories.

Great expansion content for the GTA IV world, doesn't require GTA IV!

Good game, definitely worth buying a used copy on e-Bay for $10 or $15 including shipping. Contains two completely separate stand-alone games that take place in that GTA IV world, and GTA IV is NOT required! There's also some really cool new vehicles and things to do in these two games, including base jumping all around the city and triathalons. Despite the lame name, the Ballad of Gay Tony is actually better than the Lost and the Damned, although both are good and will keep you busy for at least a full weekend to complete them. If you enjoyed GTA IV and haven't picked this add-on up, you won't be disappointed!

GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City (PS3)

Excellent gameplay, story, music. Extremely fun to play. You don't need to wait long to be able to get all the weapons or vehicles you want. Its not about hunting items and stocking up on stuff as it is just going out there and releasing as much lead and explosives into computer simulated people. It opens up another side of GTA IV that I felt was left out of the main game (though it was long enough!). The game is CHOCK full of stuff to do, people to meet, and it made my hair on the back of my neck stand whenever I did missions with Niko. Very cool element, the best bang for my buck for these 2 games together. You won't regret it.
