Album Notes
Producer: Keith Forsey, Robin Hancock.Compilation producer: Kevin Flaherty.Recorded between 1983 & 1993. Includes liner notes by Ben Edmonds.Digitally remastered by Kevin Bartley & Keith Forsey.Personnel: Billy Idol (vocals, guitar); Mark Younger-Smith, Steve Stevens (guitar); Julian Beeston , Keith Forsey (programming).Liner Note Author: Ben Edmonds.Photographers: Peter Gravelle; Neal Preston.Though he made his initial splash as the singer for UK pop-punks Generation X in the late-'70s, Billy Idol's greatest success came as a solo artist. In the '80s, Idol took punk's bad-boy attitude and merged it with the pop accessibility of new wave to produce a stream of huge hits. All of Idol's biggies are included here, and when they're gathered together in one place, they serve as a reminder of just how strong his popcraft was. From the turbo-charged R&B of "Mony Mony" to the goth-tinged "White Wedding" and the somewhat surreal balladry of "Eyes Without a Face," this is Idol at his finest. With his Elvis sneer, Jim Morrison baritone, and Iggy-on-steroids image, he was the ultimate '80s rock poster boy, and GREATEST HITS proves that he had the tunes to back up that carefully constructed image.

Editorial Reviews
3 stars out of 5 - ...This is effectively 1988's 11-track compilation IDOL SONGS, with just 5 numbers added, including a live acoustic 'Rebel Yell' and, oddly, a completely new version of Simple Minds' 'Don't You Forget About Me'...

Danceing with Billy Idol

Created: 13/11/06
This Cd was worth every penny of the $6.00 I bought it for. I always like rebel yell, white wedding and dancing with myself. Really these songs are what sold the album. The rest is just filler, some live stuff, some remakes. Not bad stuff, just stuff. So in short if you like, Dancing with Myself, Mony Mony, Hot in the city, White Wedding, Rebel Yell, Eyes without a Face, Flesh for Fantasy, Catch my Fall, To be a Lover, Don’t need a Gun, Sweet Sixteen, Cradle of Love, L.A. Woman, Shock to the System, Rebel Yell (live AND acoustic) and Don’t You (forget about me) or are just trying to fill out your collection with some sweet 80’s rock. This maybe the disk for you.

Billy is Truly an Idol

Created: 20/04/08
Despite posing like a bad boy (whether he is or was really one, we don't know for sure), Billy Idol is a good singer and always had good intentions. His collection of tunes is one of the landmarks of the 80s, when music used to be more interesting in general than it is nowadays (with some exceptions, of course).

This 2001 compilation of "Greatest Hits" reunites not necessarily his best, but at least his best known songs. Classics such as "Mony Mony", "Rebel Yell" and "Cradle of Rock", as well as the ballads "Flash for Fantasy", "Eyes Without a Face" and "Sweet Sixteen" are here with 10 other tracks, including a nice Simple Minds cover of "Don't You (Forget About Me)", another classic of that decade.

All tracks are 24-bit digitally remastered for the very delight of every Pop Rock fan of the 80s.

The CD arrived quickly and was packaged safely. CD plays great.

The songs take me back to the 80's, I love his voice. It was

nice to get the Greatest Hits instead of buying separate CD's.

The last bonus track was hard to find. This CD is truely a greatest hits tribute. No filler just hits.
